Door removal

Postby Steveboy on Fri May 10, 2013 10:38 pm

I need to remove the passenger door to fit a new 2nd hand one, just received the thing today, I knew it needed a new window, but turns out the doors fooked. looks like some1 has tried to break in and bent the dam thing in to an un repairable state. :x

I know the 2 pins need to be removed but how easy/hard is this process?

I've already got a new door to go on, although not the right colour but gona get the car painted once its ready.

You can do it without the official tool but either way you absolutely need another person to hold the door when you come to remove the second pin as if the door is not perfectly straight that pin will not budge at all!

I need to do this soon, so be good to know how you get on!

Did I remember correctly that the MK3 pins aren't available anymore, but the MK4/5 ones are the same? I gather new pins are essential?!

I think they get so battered you may need new ones. Also they are a little exposed to the elements so tend to be rusty etc
