Double Cosworth intercooler setup ??

Postby Jur on Wed Aug 13, 2003 9:05 am

Did NE1 do this kind of Intercooler setup ??

2 Cosworth standaard intercoolers.

setting it up like this:
- one on top of the other.
- connecting them using a hose on one side.
- connecting them to the turbo and charge carrier on the other side
- Putting the both in front of the standaard radiator

I guess you have to change one side of both intercoolers (hose connection to top and bottom so that you only have to use a straight hose.

personally i reckon theyd be better off in parralell (using y splitters)

this way the air would be traveling at half the sped throught each one, allowing it more time to cool. also there would be much less flow restriction
I dont see any disadvantages of this way over series connection, other than perhaps slightly more complicated plumbing.

With both ways you will have the same problems with increasing the capacity of the intake tubing.

One thing that will happen............. lag will increase due to all the pipe work.
I have seen twin I/C set-ups before and they do work.

You'd do better to combine the two and weld new end tanks on:

That's a triple, but you get the idea.

yes its a norris motorsport cooler, they work excellent on the escorts but where the hell can they fit on a FRST ???
they will obviously stick out of the bumper as they are 10cm thick :o
