just seen some for sale on e-bay and wounded how it would make my car run better :-?

Double valve springs are used when high revs is needed. Its a mod usually done to 8v heads when the engine is need to rev above 7000rpm or so.
Reving this high is usually done because of a wilder cam that lacks on low-end power.

The thing is that with more reving the std valve springs wont close the valves in time. Instead of using a stronger valve spring, its used double ones or even triple ones.
