Drop Links?

Can anyone answer a quick question?

What are drop links? And what can cause them to wear out?

I'm asking cause my Dad's Vectra has had two new sets on, one at 15k and one at 25k.

these are the short bars connecting the struts to the anti-roll bars. Don't know these vectras but the rubbers or the little ball joints could be knackered.

yea as above, dont really know what would cause them to go that frequently. any sharp shock to the arb i would pressume
