dump valve problem please help

Postby dips7758 on Thu Sep 19, 2013 11:19 am

Hi guys...

A few years back I did an rs turbo conversion to my fiesta mk3.. I have put a 1.6 rs turbo engine in with a t3 setup... got there in the end but car just sits at home.. when I built the car I bought a brand new venturing Bailey dump valve the one that looks like a horn for the car ...assuming I'll get a loud noise when take off or cruise... unless I really put my foot down I just about can hear a sound.. everything is correctly fitted and to try make it run smoother I fitted a full stainless exhaust system so hoping it should make a
Difference... I just started the car up after a good 8months it jerks a bit but if sorted that out.. still same problem with the dump valve.. I also wanted to ask on a t3 do you normally get the chatter as I dont even get that again unless my foot it down. The car does move in general it is pretty fast.... would that be an actuator as my one is really stiff before I fitted it on the turbo when building the car...my old t2 fiesta was 10x faster then this but this is my show car..

Sorry for the long story but tried to explain to best I could... can anyone help me... thanks guys

Dips :-)

You won't get a loud noise unless it builds boost

If the dump valve is fitted this will replace the chatter, but only if the car is efi? If its mfi it won't chatter at all

Was the dump valve brand new as if it wasn't I've seen the worn and causing vacuum leaks which might be your jerking and loss of power, if its got a faulty spring it will stop it building boost and In turn lose power

I'm going to try another dump valve and see if that is the case... but its just really strange....

Hi guys this is my engine bay and by looking at the dump valve you would think it would be worth it...unfortunately mines just barely work... if connected everything correctly I'm sure I did...

It is connected right.from what you describe,it doesn't build up boost...also,dump valve is heared whenever turbo has the time to build up boost, not only when you floor it.Even if you drive it normaly, when you let the throttle to ghange gear,it will be heared.More boost, more sound.Whatever boost above 0 on the boost gauge, and you will hear it.

Hi mate iv connected the boost gauge up as its running it reads on 15 vac ... soon as I accelerate it with my foot almost down it just nearly hits 0... does thatmake any sence.. I can't drive it check the boost gauge properly until tomorrow as my exhaust is getting put on...lol

Anything below 0 is not considered boost.Normaly you must rev it to build up boostmand if it is under load it will boost sooner. So the best is to wait for the exhaust to be fitted, since if you rev it without exhaust, you could over rev the turbo. So,wait for the exhaust and then take it for a drive. Are the boost hoses all connected and tightened?

I haven't got a t connector for dump n boost... if taken the dump valve off and connected up the boost gauge once back box is fixed I will take her for a spin to check if it reads correctly...if not I reckon it must be the actuator then.. ..
