ecotek sits inline in the vacume hose going into ur inlet manifold the idea is that when u accellerate hard the valve opens and lets a disturbed or turbulent stream of air into the injection system. the idea ia that this makes the petrol and air into a finner mist which leads to a hotter burn so u get more bang which equals more power. The valve by its nature also works once u lift of the throtle and limits the waste of petrol when not accelerating.
so in a poerfect solution u will get more power when u put ur foot down and use less petrol when ur not ranting.
As far as the dump valve sound im afraid no it sounds nothing like one, instead u get a sound much like a wet fart or slurping noise, for this reson the valves normaly come sold as part of a kit containing a small filter which dampens the sound so u cant hear it above the normal engine noise.
