Postby mupster on Wed Aug 14, 2002 3:04 pm

Im wanting to fit a superchip to my XR2i so I looked what ecu is in it atm..

After looking on the internet i found its running this:

FORD ESCORT 1.8L 16V Zetec CHK:D368 FORD 883S00 ECC-IV 2FCD

Strange init..

My engine is a 1.8 Zetec but how do i find out what superchip to use now?

Take the standard ECU out.. note the type# (2FCD for instance)

the XR2i 16v in Holland is the same as RS1800 in the UK
the XR2i 16v (105BHP) like the UK version was never produced for European market (at least .. as far as my info goes)

there was an 1.8s version with the same engine though..

so: Note the Model type XR2i 16v, the BHP (105 in your case i guess) and the ECU type (2FCD i guess)

Look for a superchip for that config.

good Look ..

p.s. chipping an athmo engine won't really perform like a turbocharged one.. expect just an increase of max 10BHP .. but a lot better driveability.. better accell ..

Think about the breathing of the engine (inlet and exhaust)
otherwise chipping would JUST improve driveablitiy ./. and nothing more..
