Dave,

I think you'll need the XR2 / 1.6S leanburn bottom end as the pistons will take the 1.4 head off the block - leanburn engines have the combustion chamber in the piston crown, whereas 2i and pre-85 XR2 engines have them in the head.

I may have a 1600 bottom end going for sale soon but it needs new rings and possibly a rebore. Won't be expensive and I'll throw in the head, too, which converts easily enough to DIS... d'oh! No CPS hole, so you'll need to drill your own.

i already have 2 89 xr2 engines but i can't be RSed to drill the hole i am going to use one of these heads and the carb ect so all i need is a 2i bottomend. I have just chucked a frst short mota because it needed an overbore and new pistons its not cost effective to do with the amount of 2nd hand units around.

Dave,

I don't think the EFi bottom end will work with the head - pistons will strike the valves and possibly the head itself.

Dave - I bought a complete 1600 cvh efi out of either a 2i or late 3i last week so that I could have the head. I have the bottom end complete for sale - say £70 and I may be able to meet you half way for pickup. let me know what you think. Cheers. Brad
