Electrical problem on ICE
I decided to install all the system into the car today.
Got a cheap box off a friend til i get a Bassboy special!
I have got everything running in the car sub, amp etc.But if i turn up the stereo too high or increase the bass the amp cuts out saying it is because of excessive current. Could this be caused by a loose connection to the battery terminal, as i have noticed the power cable going to the lug on the battery terminal seems a little loose and with a good pull could come out.
Any help will be truely appreciated.
Cheers

Right replaced the loose connection on the battery terminal and still the same thing.
Checked the ampage on the amp and it runs steady at 1amp on low volume, as soon as you crank it up it peaks out at 28amps and shuts off.
Is it a possibility that the ground is not thick enough considering the power is of high gauge?
Or am i looking at a fooked amp?
Cheers

This is what ive been told as a possibility
"that you're hooked up to a load impedance that's too low. This can be caused by improper subwoofer wiring, loose or shorted speaker wires"
I'm pretty sure i have the sub wired correctly, as follows;
positive to positive bridged and the same for the negative. Then separate cables running to the amp from one of the negatives and positives. Making it 2ohm
http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?suboptions=Mono%5F1%2D4ohm%2DDVC&type=mono
The amp says i can run it at 2ohm.

hmm try getting a thicker earth...and try earthing it to the body...i know the problem u have as it happened to an Alpine F345 when i done an install in my mates car - Alpine 9583, Infinty Perfect 6.1 front and rear, Alpine Type R 12" sub in my own custom made box, Alpine F345 and Directed D750 IIRC...all supplied and fitted by myself and after a while the amp used to say CUR....rang up Alpine rep, and he said to try what i said and it cured the problem (tried another amp and it done the same thing)

first off, that link was for a single sub, youre using 2 so http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?amptype=mono&suboptions=Mono%5F2%2D4ohm%2DDVC might help. if not then use http://www.restricted.alpine-electronics.co.uk/support/ownersdatabase/SWR-1241D/OM_SWR-1XXXD_EN.pdf courtesy of Alpine Audio Europe cant be wrong there, although i wired em different when i had em.
i hope your using the wiring kit i supplied if you are then its something youve done when wiring it.
have you got all the 3 in line fuses in? did u check the terminals in the dist. block?

im only using the one sub, so the diagram is correct.
Have changed the ground, took some of the 4awg power cable and used it as the ground. I've also made sure the gain and other settings have been set to 0.
The volume can go a little louder now but not a great deal.
Gonna try another amp soon and see how i get on.
Thanks for the advice so far.

Solved it!!!
Although it says 2 ohm stable, it obviously didnt like it.
I have downed it to 8ohm and what do you know, the thing goes up and up and up!!
Just need to change the settings on the amp and i'll be sweet.
Thanks

Nah nowhere near as loud.
I pressume its because at 8 ohms its underpowering the sub now.
Gonna try with the second sub wired in so its at 4ohms see if there is any difference there.
Used to go in the multi storey carpark and it used to set them off like i was jumping on the cars!!
Cheers
