Emblem's RS Turbo... but not a Fiesta! UPDATED (13/04/12)
Hi all, i've been a member of the forum for a while now and friends with steve (rst-steve) and mitch (mitchrs4) and was the convoy driver for the collection of the MANJ last saturday ......... anyway thought it was about time i put some pics up of my own project as mitch keeps banging on about it
First thing is obvious.... it's not a Fiesta......... but hey, it's a Ford! It's a 1990, H plate 90-spec Series 2 RS Turbo and is need of a little TLC
This is how i bought the car... looking very sorry for itself!!
As you can see, theres one major part of the car missing and thats the engine, and everything to do with the engine. Although, everything else is complete such as loom, half leather Recaro interior and carpets etc etc. So far i've discovered it also needs a sill and a few little things here and there that are missing. Nothing major though.
First job after i got the car home was to clean it up and take the interior out to see what the floor was like
All good thankfully
The car was covered in so much bird crap that after a wash, the paint was proper flat and dull so outcame the T-Cut and is already looking much much better
Here's a pic of the lights and front bumper placed on the car;
Here's a few other random photos of the car and work so far;
BEFORE;
AFTER;
Tea break
More progress coming soon!
Let me know what you think...........
Cheers, craig

Thats coming along nicely.What was wrong with the front wings,rotten?
That fuel pump looks newish compared to the rest of the underneath.Get scrubbing.Been there and done that.Well worth rubbing it all down and then treating it.Looks in good nick tho!

Re: Emblem's RS Turbo... but not a Fiesta!
When im back home ill get the product up for you.works a treat and is propa under seal.You will need air gun to connect it up but im sure they do another version.
Cleaning the under side i used wire brush by hand and wire brush disc.mask is a must.bit of advice,remove the fuel tank,as that area will need a good seeing too.alot of work but worth it!

Is the fuel tank hard to remove??? I will need to drain it?
Tbh that was next on my list, it may have a hole as it seems to leak when over 3/4 full...............
I want the inside arches to look all shiney white tho.

Fuel tank pretty simple to remove,just make sure you got extra hands at the ready.if your tank leaking,is most likely the return hose to the filler cap.at the join they get loose and are based near top of tank.In worse cases the nipple that comes out to that hose rusts.just give it a good look over when off.
If you want white arches,then im sure you can get chip prove paint in white but sod keeping that clean.

Re: Emblem's RS Turbo... but not a Fiesta! FUEL TANK OUT (19/02)
Well me and steve spent an hour or so gettin the fuel tank out.
Very dirty job to say the least.
Its in a pretty bad state, the return pipe does leak, so this needs to be sorted, tbh i dont know if it can be repaired or if i should just replace it.

Thanks mate,
I really dont know atm, im trying to do it on a budget, but thats not always best. After the body work is sorted, which is not a lot beacuse it is solid, its time to get an engine in, i have sourced one from a friend with both manifolds, pipes (boost and coolant) etc, basically everthing i need minus a turbo
Its is coming on quicker than i expected tho. Hopefully i will get the wing put on within a few weeks, and have that painted, wheels are going black, that will end of the month (pay day).
So far so good.......

Re: Emblem's RS Turbo... but not a Fiesta! FUEL TANK OUT (19/02)
be fine mate im sure
if the tank can be fixed, then fix it, brazing the leak would be better than trying to weld, but getting someone to braze it will be a problem, i wouldnt want to go putting a flame next to a fuel tank , well i say that, i have to at some point.
if you plan to weld it your self, let the tank vent so all trace of fuel is gone, then fill it with water or purge it with Co2 while welding, but be carful

Re: Emblem's RS Turbo... but not a Fiesta! UPDATED (24/03/12)
Right................Its been a while.
After a house move in august last year i have done sod all to it. Its now in a slightly smaller garage will no leccy or heating, and it about 100 yards from the house in a block of garages. A small price imo i had to make in order to get my own house rather than keep renting.
Well i always get the bug do something when the weather is nice and the shows start rolling in, so i plan to strip all the stuff out of the garage over the next couple of weeks so its just the car, more room and that.
I'm still after an engine and box, although i do already have a RS cvh head, newman cam, solid lifters etc etc, but may flog this on to recoup a bit of money? (IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED?)
Ill update with photos and that when i can grab some.
Craig
