Engine build questions..

Postby Basse on Thu Apr 19, 2007 11:47 pm

Hi,

I have plans to build a Zetec 2.0 turbo engine to my Fiesta MKII..

And I wonder if you guys can help me out with some tips.. Since there are no Zetec`s turbos in sweden, or almost no one...

My setup:

Zetec block
Forged C20LET pistons
Steel rods
New bearings and gaskets all over, then weight and balanced...

Cylinder head
Modified inlet and outlet

other:
Building my own exhaust manifold
MegaSquirt and Edis spark
IC, Oilcooler, 3" exhaust system..

Thats what I can come up with now, and I will modified the 2.0 with som 1.8 stuff so it fits in the fiesta...

My questions is:
How does my setup look?
Is is better to find some forged pistons that are made to fit de 2.0 ? Link?
Steelrod, where to find?
Cams? where, and which?

Does the XR3 intake from the escort mk3(i think) fit on the zetec head?
I have a K24 turbo and Wastegate from a Audi 100 Turbo quattro(MC eninge) lying in my garage, could that work?

And finally, how much power could I get with this?

Are there any bigger front and rear brakes that i is almost bolt on?

I will probobly come up with some more questions, but not rigt now..

I would really appreciate if you answer some questions.. :D

Regards,

Sebbe

(Excuse my bad english, but I`m swedish! :) )

im doing the same thing as you .the Forged C20LET pistons i got off ebay.the block needs to be bored out for them to fit.

Steel rods you can get form ebay again there about £300 from usa.they need to be moded as well to fit the c20let pins which are 21mm.

gaskets from burton power

cams : i using the standard ones

i dont no about the turbo doe.

Hello mate,

If you are fitting it all to a mk2 try http://www.xrtwo.com - theres a few of us over there with zetec t's in, although mines a ZVH.

Cams, just use 130spec ones unless youve got the money to fork out on a new set and should think you would see 250-300bhp if set up correctly, all depends on head work, manifolds choice and turbo.

Brakes - on a mk2 you can upgrade to 4x4 cosworth calipers and mate these to mk5 escort rs2000 discs - this setup is a direct replacement. If more is wanted then an adaptor bracket can be bought to fit full cosworth calipers and discs to the mk2 BUT 15" + are needed and depending on the style of them you may need to file some affended metal from the caliper carriers.

I could poss get you some pics of some already done, but they'll all be on that above web site for you to read and see.

Cheers
JAMES

Thanks for the answers! :D

Chris 2i: Have read that, and thats where my plan to go with C20LET pistons... But thanks! :)

RS_seg: How much did you pistons from ebay cost?
Okey, but I guess the local engine shop could modified the rods to fit 21mm? How big is the pin on the zetec pistons?

JamesW:

Aha, a new forum.. Will register there soon.. :D
Must say that it is alot more info of this conversion and fiestas here then in hole sweden.. :)

130spec one? What do you mean..?
250-300bhp sounds very good, think that will be enough of in that little car too.. ;)

Is the 4x4 Cosworth calipers smaller then the RWD?
But sounds like an easy and well worth mod... :)

Thanks once again!

ebay rods wont work with LET pistons because the zetec black top rods off ebay are longer than the ones we get in our silver top zetec engines
RS1600i restore, weld in multipoint cage, t34 zetec turbo
