if i were to swap my engine......say from a 1.1 to a 1.6 xr2i engine, would it be classed as a "kit car" on insurance or would it be classed as a mod to the original car?

any info is greatly recieved

It would be classed as a 1.1 with engine mods. Your insurance would hit Group 14 at least, probably more.

Find a 1.6 XR2 engine, chuck that in, and tell the insurance poeple it came from a Fiesta Mk3 1.6s, which is Group 9. (Same engines you see!)

Its not fuel injected, but it will be a far easier engine change than a EFi engine. (Lots of wiring and chnaging of parts).

Its what I'm doing in September, except I'm putting dual carbs on mine!

there is a slight flaw with that one, the engine numbers will register it as an xr2, therefore it will need to be insured as one. better off getting a 1.6s and swapping that, and change the xr2 parts onto that
