Re: Engine conversion!!
yea we put his name and new engine size on the log book and sent it off. 3,500 is why i didnt want to register it as a 2.0 litre but i suppose its for the best now.

Re: Engine conversion!!
i would say tho that even tho its in his name and you crash it they will refuse to pay out if possible as insurance companies aint stupid!
have seen it done before.......... even tho they take the premuims in the clauses there it states clearly that failing to disclose anything WILL render your policy null and void, so i hope you said you were the main driver!

not registering an engine conversion/paying £3500 for insurance.
either way the answer's the same - you're being a fool.

Re: Engine conversion!!
A guy down the road from me has officially the fastest (unassisted) corsa in the country, i cant promise to be 100% sure but i think he has a calibra engine in it, hes had a couple of mag features and won his class at 10 of the best.
Thought id drop that in there
£3500 for a 2.0 corsa? i bet thats about the same as youd be paying for an old tvr, but you have a corsa

Calibra, astra cav... if all 2ltr n/a all XE (aslong as they are the pre ecotech) so all same engine mate, best thing to do on an xe is to change to a coscast head and put a power cap on the engine, this combined with a nice set of cams and ported head will give around 170bhp in an engine that is very very good. I hate to admit it but i would say the XE was prob the best option for a n/a 2lltr going in any car. Pound for pound they are much better than a zetec, hence why they command a high price still as they are so desirable!
What corsa is it out of interest, any pics? A 2tr corsa is a great car to own and drive, they are very much a point and go with the right bits on, that would be an option for a future track car, a mate is seriously considereing reshelling his mk2 Astra Gte 16v into a corsa as you can pick them up dirt cheap and they are still great fun, and he loves mk2 astra's!
But yeah, i begrudge paying over £400 insurance a year! never mind 3.5k, just think of the car that the bloke could have at the end of it if he simply saved that extra money for a couple of years and made do like alot of people have to!
At end of the day he is a victim of his own stupidity, if more people refused to pay so much for insurance and drove sensible cars then prob insurance would come down as more people would have the correct insurance and hece not as many uninsured drivees for the honesty Joe public to footthe bill for! i also think that if the police and insurance companies pulled their heads out of their arses and made the fines a true reflection of what the origional insurance would cost (ie alot bloody more not less) then again there would be less uninsured drives and prices would fall!

xrsi, its about as likely that insurance would come down, as petrol prices going down Once they go up theyre there to stay

Re: Engine conversion!!
Just to clear up a few things, to me 3.5k for insurance is ridiculous and there is no way i would pay it however to my dad - its pocket change, so he doesnt mind paying it to stop me from going to prison after hitting someone. Also lol i failed to mention the engine in my corsa isn't a c20xe it's a c20let and it's highly modified i'm not particularly good with mechanics but judging by the speed and TIMED 0-60mph i would say it has had alot of work done to it, i am very sorry for the comments i made in this topic - i really like this forum and do not wish to alienate myself from you guys because i find you all highly incitive and helpful. Now that i own a car that can at least stay near my dads car (0-60mph in 5.5 seconds) me and my dad are going out tommorow to liverpool in both our cars to see our family up north, i'm gonna upload a video of it when we get back on monday so WE ALL can druel over the car my dad drives (flash baxtered lol), also before i upload the video i want you all to know that i AM NOT some spoilt little brat who gets what he wants, my corsa is a result of my own hard work, my dad has not given me any money, apart from the insurance obviously. I'll tell you all something, ive been visiting this website since i was 15 imagining owning a fiesta because to be honest i absolutely love them. Please don't start doubting me when i blank out my dads face in the video im not allowed to show his face on youtube due to copyright, all you will see is my 2.0 litre turbo corsa alongside my dads car. If you can all forgive me for being rude and arrogant (hopefully next fiesta group meeting) i will try to get my dad to promote it for us. Anyone who feels i am simply talking out of my rear end please hold your comment until monday to see the vids .

im pretty sure after writing that, and then posting a link to the video it makes it very easy to prove you are braking the law. Arrests from the internet are becoming more common..
not saying its a certainty by any means but they're definitely increasing

Re: Engine conversion!!
i thought the c20let was a turbo engine used in the calibra and cavy. Is the corsa turbo'd?
Take it to the red line or take it home!

Re: Engine conversion!!
no, its a conversion. a couple of the boy racers local to me have done it and the cars have ended up crabbing down the road due to the torque the c20let has and the fact the corsas chassis is not up to the job.

Re: Engine conversion!!
The LET is the turbo motor as found in the Cavalier and Calibra Turbo.
If you've insured it through your dad you still have no insurance and your dad is commiting the offence of "insurance fronting" Hope you both like the soap if plod catch up with you. I just hope you don't kill some poor innocent sod when it all goes wrong.
My guess is though he probably has a 1600 Sport with an Ecotec lump in but thinks it's fast as fook as he's used to a 1.1 Fiesta. To be honest I doubt this little cretin could handle even that hairdryer without bending it.

Zak :Ollybee :With that sort of attitude I can tell you how much help you're going to get here:
ZERO!!!
Well thats not very nice is it, i come onto this forum expecting a nice response from fellow fiesta enthusiasts and i become alienated for simply wanting a bit more horsepower, im sure you all can relate to the need for more power.
lol oh well, was just a thought.
your hardily a ford 'enthuiast'. you give fezzy drivers a bad name, and, in short. your a penis.
as for people on here being 'jelous' of a corsa...... tw@T
ye, those corsas are well quick, my mates got the same engine in a nova, but im afraid you days are numbered, i just hope ya dnt take sum1 with you.
