engine conversions or working on what i got

Postby jonyb4 on Wed May 27, 2009 12:18 am

ok i got a mk4 1.3 and as you all know the hcs aint the best engine, but theres the duratec 8v which i sa hcs liek mine just its got a different head and an over head cam, but in principle its the same engine, the ka's use the 1.3 one and the street ka and sport ka use the 1.6 verson, one of these would be nice for me

but ont he other hand id liek a zetec, and not the zetec se either, a proper zetec maybe a 1.8 or 2.0l silver top, but i aint seen many ppl have it done before and im not sure on what would be needed for this conversion, anyone able to shed anylight on this? cheers

i have seen it done however,t heres a scrappy near me (bridgend) its a mk4 there with no exterior mods done as far as i can see, it had some mk6 zs alloys and a 1.8 silver top engine in it, looked liek a sleeper to me, but one of the engine mounts had been removed so couldnt see how they done it, but idealy this is what id like to do to mine, id liek a 1.8l zetec but wayne ensures me theyre rubbish and should go for a 2.0l lol

any help is appreciated

Best thing for you to look at is a puma 1.7 conversion guide i would say :) That should help you out about conversion process, and you could use the info to put a bigger engine (2 litre) in the car maybe.

How about the Focus Black Top zetec? not as good as the silver top i believe. But Isn't the 1.6 from the fiesta mk5 zetec-s the same engine as in the focus mk1... could be possible that way round.
There loads of people that have dropped the Puma 1.7 and Focus Rs engines in.

Lol if your interested, I'll have a spare 1.4 (with a damaged crank) llama.

Matthew.
