Engine rebuild

Postby timmy turbo on Tue Apr 10, 2007 2:53 pm

Hi i currently own a mk3 FRST and the little beast has done 90,000. I was thinking of spending a couple of grand on bigger turbo conversions and better chips, cams, injectors, etc. But someone pointed out the other day that my engine might not handle the extra power with so many miles on the clock, it runs as sweet as a nut and im always servicing it but i would rarther be safe than sorry, ive now decided to get my engine rebuilt before i start upping the bhp. Could anyone suggest a good reliable company who would rebuild my engine for me without ripping me off and filling me full of bullsh*t. I live in the midlands so anywhere in that area would be appropriate. Also i need to know what £ im looking at. Many thanks for your time and any suggestions would be appreciated.

prices vary greatly with companies for re-building engines and it also depends on what spec your wanting.

I would personally blow it up before you rebuild, if its a decent, well serived engine it shouldnt be too much of a drama cracking 200bhp. In the meantime just save up as a back up fund

I'd put a chip and injectors on for the time being and see how you get on. If it pops then go low comp etc

my injectors and chip "may" be for sale in the near future

I get your game sunshine :P

Same as mate. If it's been looked after I wouldn't worry. My brothers was purchased on 89k and we've since hiked power to 211bhp and all has been grand. Only reason the engine is out of the bay at the minute is because he's decided to go low comp and push for some more ponies
