Engine swap, is this possible?
right all u smart ppl out there need some help
once i finished the int/ext looks of my car want to do an engine swap so...
is it possible to put a Zetec-S engine into a mk3 fiesta 1.1LX?
will it be a straight swap or will i hav to replace anything like the speedo/rev counter or the gear box or anything else?
has anyone done this? reason i ask is cus i want somethin better than a 1.1 and the Zetec-S is only insurance group 8 or alternativly any suggestions? (please dont go on abt a RST or 1800 engine too expensive on the insurance)
thanx ppl

Anything will fit with work but I don't think z-s will be the easiest choice. As far as insurance goes I wouldn't read much into the groups, engine transplants don't really fall into groups as such. It is cheaper for me to insure a frst than insure mine with frst engine in for example.

KitKat :Isn't the S a carberated 8 valve, as in old XR2 engine stock being got rid of??
No its a 1.6 zetec. Only zetecs in xr2s were the 16v xr2is.

zetec engine mounting points are NOT the same as a 1.1.
For my 2.0 conversion, had to redrill, strengthen the chassis etc.

Yep. You do not see many of these about because they were only made for a couple of years and were right back at the MK3 Fiestas begining.
They are 90bhp like the Si but accelerate faster below 70'ish for the loss of some top speed.
Carb too so not suitable for any modern fuel injected card. The only reason you would want a 1.6s engine was if you had a 1.0 carb engine etc you wanted to upgrade.
