Engine Swap

Postby Ginner on Thu Sep 15, 2005 8:56 am

Hello

Im considering an engine swap from my 1.1 HCS engine to the 1.4 Si engine (can't go bigger due to insurance, im only 18) and was wandering what was going to need upgrading to the Si components?

Also what sort of additional bits/upgrades can be made to the 1/4si engine?

Cheers

it depends on a few things first. is your car injection? if not it'll be trickier because the 1.4 si engine is so you'll have to change items like the fuel tank and fuel lines etc. if you wanna go along with the 1.4 si engine you'll need the engine, ecu with as much loom as possible and bits like airfilter parts, pipes for cooling etc. if i were you i would get a carbed 1.4 cvh (non injection) and put twin webers on it and get it tuned up nicely, it'll be a bit easier to tune and more fun in general, plus there will be less wiring involved. hope this helps :)

Sounds Good

Above sounds good but:

1. What could be used as donor car?

2. Will mounts be the same?

3. How much to buy one of the above?

4. How much will it affect insurance?

with the conversion you're planning on doing, you'd probably be better off buying a complete 1.4 si. it'll be easier to insure as a 1.1 thats had an engine tranplant too. and no doubt, look better.
