Engine Swap

Postby YoungRogue on Sun Jan 11, 2009 7:27 pm

I know very little about engines so excuse my naivity, I have a 1.1 or 1.3 carb engine in my fiesta mk3.5, i am unsure which tho lol registered as a 1.1 but the engine says 1.3 :-? but anyways that wasnt my question. What would be the easiest engine that could be fitted into this car without having to mess about with mounts, wiring loom or fuel injection?? would the engine from a mk2 xr2 fit straight in and mate to the gearbox? also could i use the ecu from the xr2?? I Know some people that are competant with stuff like this and would be able to fit it all for me, but i just want to know what to look out for as i literally just want a straight swap with engines with minimal effort as im sure some of you can apreciate lol

if your swapping to a different engine the easiest way is to get the wiring loom from the car that used to have that engine in

with the carb engine from the xr2 it is very easy the mounts are pretty much already there for you, you will need to make a modificaton to the fuel pump as it is mechanically driven and as for a loom it is a case of running three wires, With the injection it will be the same mounts just the wiring maybe slighlty different. And if your fiesta is a mk3.5 it will not be carb it will be single point injection.
