Connaught Competition Engines in Sittingbourne, Kent. http://www.connaughtengines.co.uk
These guys really know their stuff, are Ford specialists, their premises is clinically-clean and they have an in-house engine dyno so you can see what your engine is producing and have it "run-in" properly by them on their dyno before you drive the car with it fitted.
I had my 220bhp n/a zetec built here (after Specialised Engines made a right 'conquering device'-up of it in the first place! ), The build quality was second-to-none and the engine never missed a beat. I wouldn't go anywhere else

I need it mapped and set up. Its running like a pig at the mo, popping, juddering and everything.
Had Grove Garage quote me £1100 for this
Motorsport development quoted around £600

LPS are a good place to go, they have a really decent rolling road and know their stuff
I might give that COLTEC racing a look as i only live in Woodbridge!

I don't think that's a very fair comparison. Grove do not charge £1100 for a "setup and mapping". That would have been for a complete check, set of fuel injectors, map sensor, live mapping on the road, and potentially a fuel system upgrade!
'Just' mapping would have been around £350-400.. but it's never 'just' that, anywhere.

i went to connaught engines and got a quote for a stage 2 2ltr zetec rebuild.
"Full management/carbs, steel rods, head work, H/C forged pistons, cams, Vernier pulleys, plus additional machining work."
is what they replied with. quoting me £7k + VAT madness!
thats quite a lot just for about 100bhp gain on a 2ltr rebuild isnt it not?

Ever heard the saying "you buy cheap, you buy twice?!" Seriously they do charge a lot but the quality of their workmanship and their aftersales care was in a different stratosphere to the "work" specialised engines carried out for me previously where I ended up spending out a lot more than the original engine cost trying to get all the problems sorted out
