ERST head.

Problem or technical question?

ERST head.

Postby Brianscotty on Wed Jun 26, 2013 10:30 pm

I have just rebuilt my engine & have been having a few issues getting it to start. Anyway after sorting out most of those issues I have noticed that on cylinder number 1 both the valves look slightly open when at TDC. I am using a ERST head with FRST valves, rockers, lifters & cam. My question is are both the Fiesta & Escort heads the same or is there any differences between them?
Any help on this would be really appreciated...

Have you put the rectangular spacers on before you put it together ,,they slip over the rocker studs

Yeah m8 there on. All the components in the head were on the original head fitted to the car. I am now using a head from an Escort. When I found that the valves looked open I thought that the Escort head should have longer valves fitted.

You used the fiesta valves mate in an escort head now i would have thought that would have been okay but the escort head will be MFI probably ,, did u lap the valves in if they lapped okay then that kind of rules out them not sitting in right

Yeah they were lapped in absolutely fine m8. I take it that the Escorts parts are identical to the Fiesta parts ( in the head that is) .

apart from the inlet side buddy i would have thought so ,,it wouldnt matter if you put a carbed head on a turbo it should stilll work and vice versa cos its the pistons that differ
