Postby xrsi on Wed Nov 05, 2003 1:04 am

another quick question...

have fitted the servo today, just wandered what everyone did bout the fiesta lines having 2 bigger connectors on them? did you just cut them off and then fit fiesta ones on or what?

also how do u make the end go like the nipple thing after you have put the new ones on?

thanks

James

What?

The Escort brake servo has 2 large ends and 2 small ends, just like the Fiesta one.

I didnt cut or do anything like that. I just screwed them straight in!

Thats strange. It might also explain why yours didnt need reducing by 20mm on the rod length. Clearly it's a different model in the escort range.

Can you get a picture of it?

Mine came off a 1.6 90bhp Escort. a MK5 I believe and appears to have the same brake cylinder as the Escort van so maybe it's a slightly uprated model?

it should have needed reducing! i used longer brackets to space it out futher!

it was off a 1.8 zetec mine! same part no tho as most of the other models by the looks as the part numbers were still on all them in the scrap yard!

Oh well

There's your answer then mate. Stick with the Escort cylinders but be prepared to mod them a little to make it fit.

Well... Your saying they are the same, but clearly they arent otherwise you would have a push rod the same length as mine was (20mm too long) and a master cylinder with 2 large and 2 small holes for the pipes

And you have neither!

I'm not like arguing here, just saying go back to your scrappy and get another MK5 Escort servo and cylinder which fits straight in lol

dont wish to sound funny mate!

it was 2omm longer! but seeing as the servo rod was longer and the bar that goes to the pedal is the same distance away from the bulk head on an escort ot a fiesta i think that means that the brackets push it out more seein as they are longer on an escort/orion! (thats how i didnt need to shorten the rod i modded the escort brackets!)

only bit that has puseled me is the 4 holes the same size!

all sorted now tho! got a pipe flairing tool!

will post pics up in a min!
