Escort GTI

Postby sam.43 on Wed Jan 30, 2008 6:18 pm

I know its not a fiesta but, ive just bought an Escort GTI and was wondering what modifications i could make to improve the performance?

Currently it standard with just a custom backbox fitted.

What mods could i do to help the performance? what things like bigger throttle bodies. MAF sensors do anything? And would these have any effects on the running of the car? See these on ebay:

I dont really wana do anything to extreme because the insurance already costs enough.

Any advice appreciated?

Thanks

2.0l equipment will do nothing for you unless you have the engine as well. That would make it nice and nippy though and is a straight forward conversion.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

My brothers other half has a GTi and with a 2litre TB, Superchip, Piper cams, induction kit and Magnex cat back exhaust we saw 147bhp on my mates Dyno Dynamics rolling road (affectionately known as "The Ego Buster" in the trade).

There is nothing you can do without pushing up your insurance. All the bolt on mods do not offer good gains for the amount of money you spend (see above) and can often do more harm than good.
