depends what you are after really and what you have at the moment!!
could use cossie brakes (someone on here will tell you which ones), or and aftermarker set up, or if you are running solid discs just upgrade to the vented set up with uprated discs/pads!!

yeah well im just using normal standard ha.
only a 1.4 but looking into a engine conversion
going to do it slowly due to money.
so i was thinking uprated brakes is the first step.
i have just got solid discs.

well brakes/suspension are a much better first step than engine and more fun too!! no good going fast if you cant handle/stop
depending on your budget you should be able to find something suitable for a decent price. rule of thumb is larger diameter = better stopping power

How mad do you want to go with the engine?
For a basic setup to about 130bhp
Si/XR/RS calipers. Tarox 20 groove discs. Mintex 1144 or Ferodo DS2000 pads. Braided brake hoses. Fresh DOT4 fluid
After this you can jump to 4x4 Cosworth calipers, discs and pads which will provide all the stopping oompf you're ever likely to need. Have seen an Escort Mk5 servo added which seemed to work superbly well.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
