Can you confirm what plug you have though, is it a round plug, or a triangle shaped plug

Hmm ill have to see if I have one with triangle plug, ERST norm have the round plug which is early type and I deffo got 2 of them, unsure if I have a spare triangle plug one, will have to check

Ive got the escort gearbox in my fiesta but the switch was broken so i put the one from my fiesta in it but it doesnt work so its the fiesta wiring still j reg 91 fiesta. : jim

Hmm, did the fiesta switch work when you were using the fiesta gearbox?
The switches are the same bar the plug, so you might have a naff switch, bad wiring, a blown bulb, or a issue with the ignition relay (green one) as it routes power through that and when the relay plays up apart from other things, the reverse light not working is also something that happens

Not sure really wud it have to work for the mot if so then yes wot other problems wud the green relay cause as i have a headlight out now and its not the bulb : thought id read on here somewhere the fiesta switch doesnt work in the escort gearbox :jim

Reverse light isn't part of mot, unless they have bought it in recently but don't think they have.

Head like could be bad earth or the plug.

A bad relay cn cause clock not to work, boot pop not to work rad and heater fan not to work, starting and running issues and a few more.

Pop the green relay out and clean up te pins with a knife or some wet and dry and try it again, also check the connectors I. The fuse box are close and not gapping open.

Check the switch with a meter, stuck It in reverse and put a meter across the terminals and see if you get continuity, if not pop te switch out and try again but push the ball end in, if it is too short to work in the escort box your get continuity by pushing it by hand, unless its fooked.
Would also be worth checking the plug with the meter to see if you got a 12v feed there.

If everything works then your need the switch from a later escort (if the problem is the fiesta switch is too short) or you fit a early type and change te plug, but I'm sure all the reverse light switches are the same on the BC boxes, but knowing ford there could be a change somewhere along the lines lol
