Yes it should fit as I've ran an XR3i gearbox on an RS1800 before which is a similar concept I would've thought?

It will fit. I'm running one. It is the same as the fiesta 5 speed box but with an LSD. Just be careful when you buy it. Know what you are looking at and go to view it before buying. I got ripped off badly when I bought mine.

yeah quantum > i have a mate who got a erst box and put it on his fez (1.6 zetec), not bad for a bit, til the box completly needed rebuilding, be v.v.v.v.v careful buying recon boxes and make sure you get a decent warranty on it!

How were you ripped off, if you don't mind me asking John?

I know IanFRST had an XR3i 8v box on his which he was sold on the understanding that it was an FRST box.

Remember there is no diff pin inside the driveshaft holes on the ERST LSD boxes

Al is right, but he meant it was sold to me as an ERST box with a LSD..

When i fitted my ERST box which we took of my missus' ERST it was totally different..

Fits and runs a treat tho.. but its off now and wont be going back on

I got ripped off because I bought it from a breakers that guranteed it for 30 days or something similar, can't remember exactly. I had it stripped to check it was OK before fitting it and found that it was badly worn, so much so that it would have sounded like a box of bolts if I'd driven it. Needed new bearing's etc and mainshaft
Breakers told me that it was OK when they bought it off a guy they regularly buy off - a load of bullsh*t, bunch of w*****s.

If all Ian needs is a gearbox case why don't you buy him a standard 5 speed one from a breakers. The everybody's happy!

Sad thing is that I binned a perfectly good 5-speed XR2 case a couple of months back cos no-one wanted it

Ian, you can have my XR2i g/box if in exchange, plus a bit of cash and plenty of slave labour, if you think I could take the box off your hands on Saturday 20th December, cos I'm swapping my engine at Paul's Saturday to Sunday and this would be a bonza chance for me to get a decent box in.
