Postby si 16valver on Sun Feb 11, 2007 10:45 pm

as mentioned in the rs1800 bodies post i'm on with bodies for my 2.0 zetec its gonna be standard engine except a set of 285 duration piper cams and a 4-2-1 custom manifold and stainless system with 4 42mm throttle bodies and obviously setup on rolling road i estimate the power to be between 180-190 anyone got any other opinions to that statement anything excepted cheers do the poll as well

Well mate, not sure how much i will be able to help here, but seen as no one else has replied, i will give it a go lol!

As a rough guide Weber's Throttle Body Kit, consists of 38/40/42mm throttle bodies (not 100% sure on size) and that will give a standard 2.0 165bhp according to their website.

So with Piper cams, maybe an extra 8-15 bhp?

Plus, 4-2-1 exhaust manifold (without cat??? I assume not???), probably add another 8 - 10bhp to that figure.

So should give somewhere in the region of 180 to 190 bhp. Plus a very nice hike in torque to :)

Are you going to be running a mappable engine management system also m8? :-?

That is the way i would look at it m8, don't forget to give an ample cold air feed while your at it too!

Hope this helps mate, can anyone with more experience than be back this up?

yeah i'd say your about right and yes am having dta management wired up so will be mapped on dyno was gonna take engine apart and run high comp pistons and rods but looked at the cost and my mechanic said he would charge 500 to take it out fit the rods and pistons and then refit it which is a decent price but more than i can afford

Assuming the engine's in good health and the mapping is spot-on, I think 190 BHP shouldn't be a problem.

Before my previous 2.0 silver top was rebuilt by Connaught, It was of a similar spec to your engine:

It was on std compression ratio but ARP bolts on bottom end.

Had Kent FZ2001 Cams (milder than your 285's).

Specialised Engines (...shudder! :aaah: ) Stage 2 head.

Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies and DTA management.

No cat, 4-2-1 tubular manifold, Magnex system.

When It was all run in and mapped on the rolling road it made 186 BHP.

As your cams will be wilder than mine were at this stage, you should easily have 190 BHP+

My Connaught Competition Engine's lump was taken out to 2.1 and:

11.5:1 compression.

CNC ported head.

Piper 285 cams.

Burton Arrow steel Rods.

Accralite pistons.

Same Throttle Bodies management, and exhaust as before.

This engine made 220bhp @7000 and 176lb/ft @5000 on Connaught's engine dyno. and the car was in the Jan 05 issue of Fast Ford with that engine.

Just shows what yours should be capable of when it's done...
