Exhaust and Manifold

Postby Canwell on Fri Aug 02, 2002 11:50 pm

i thought i would make a new topic rather than adding to fletchers. i own a 1.6s and was thinking of putting an XR2i exhaust and manifold on it, how much would it cost 2nd hand? and would it be worth it?

cheers

piper system and downpipe only just a yr old! Downpipe cost me over £50 on its own!

XR2i exhaust fits on all Mk3 CVH cars and is the most efficient exhaust for the engine. The manifold is less restrictive and better designed than those fitted to the 1400 and 1600 carb engines as a general rule, and the exhaust note with a standard XR2i exhaust should be quite nice without being intrusive; if you like your ICE to sound good without sound quality being drowned out by a roaring exhaust, this might be the best idea ;)

A straight through exhaust can reap power gains but to be honest I would never expect to notice a great deal of difference just by fitting an exhaust or air filter, although anything's a bonus ;)
