Ok doods just changed my brakes so took a few piccies thought id show everyone how i did it just incase anyone fancies it

Ok what you need (pics of what i used)



I used EBC greenstuff cost me £60 or there abouts



I used EBC standard disks payed about £60 per disk frooved items i think are arround £80 each from the same manufacturer but for a fiesta i think these will do fine (made to stop a big sierra family wagon)




Now to fit these you need longer M10 bolts and some washers to space the caliper out the correct distance !

i know people have used different size botls and washers but i used 30mm M10 bolts and 5 of the penny spacers you see on each bolt so 20 alltogether ! I baought all these from halfrods, the spacers came in a big plastic box. You can see the original M10 brake caliper bolt on the left !



copper grease stops brake squeel and feels lush i recomend using some

Ok remove your old brakes 2 17mm bolts hold each caliper to the hub/spindle carrier. the disk will then slide off.

On my new pads they had sensors to tell you when the pads are well worn i fezzas dont have this so removed these wires i did.



Next you need to remove the carrier from the caliper 2 allen key bolts (not sure what size sorry) hold these to the caliper they have caps covering them they just pop off. Remove your old pads.

You now should have a caliper still attached via its hose to the car. now the new pads have more meat on than the old ones so the piston needs to be pushed back.



as seen here i used a C or G clamp to SLOWLY push the piston back in. Note remove the brake fluid resevoir cap and make sure that it doesnt overflow when doing this. if you think it might remove some of the fluid.

Fit your pads to the caliper ( at this point i put copper grease over the back of mine the non braking surface)



You can now refit the carrier to the caliper, place it over the pads and secure it with the 2 allen key bolts, and replace the metal clip at the end.

now there shoudl be lots of room for the disk. At this point i fitted the disk to my car secured it with 2 wheel bolts.

Place the caliper over the disk mine then held itself with out putting strain on my braided brake hoses.



here you can see i put the bolt through the mounting hole and placed the spacers on it ready (5 spacers in my case), its easier to do the top one first. If you loosen the bolts holding the disk on now this gives you a bit of movement.

Manouver the caliper so that you can begin to screw the bolt into the caliper itself.



if you scre it in a few turns and then do the same for the second bolt while the other is still loose this makes it much easier.



when both bolts are in (it can be tricky with the spacers) tighten to the specified torque or in my case as hard as i can.

i now added some copper grease to the surface that comes in contact with the wheel a) to aid me when i next come to remove my wheel next time as it stick and b) to stop any squeeks.

Repeat for the otherside of the vehicle

If anyone does this and fooks it up crashes and injres themself its not my fault lol.

I DONT recomend using 2nd hand brake disks and pads. I did and they were shagged !

all in all disks and pads cost me £180 (new) and second hand calipers were £120 + £50 to have them reconditioned with new seals.

Its well worth it i think if you have 15" wheels or above and i think anyone else with them will agree.

I realised i forgot to mention removing the old calipers.

you just need to remove the hose and have something to catch all the brake fluid in.

I replaced my hoses with braided items.

Then the hoses will just screw into the cossie callipers as per before and when youve done all of the above you will need to bleed your brake system.

see im a spawny get and got mine with metal machined spacer plates that were used with the callipers when they were fitted to an RS1800 race car!!!

so dont need to use any washers

PS Greenstuff pads = good, apparently, but the discs aren't a helluva lot better than standard except for the fact they seem to corrode less.

I'm going to look into having my disks anodized silver or black so that they stay shiny on the non-braking surfaces. Think I'll be using Lockheed discs and Ferodo pads

me, has just picked up my sierra cossie calipers and disks, me is a happy bunny, just fitted disk and caliper just to see what they are like, and under 15 inch wheels they look excellent, but taking them back off now for a strip down and some nice paint.

Cos it would be like trying to stop the car with a pair of wooden planks go-kart-stylee until you hit 160 mph - the Fiesta is generally considered far too light for those compounds

ive been told to use 4x4 calipers and 2 wheel drive disk is this right? if not why not ?

Right then, You must use 4X4 Calipers and disks. The reason being the 2WD disk is a different offset for the fiesta, and the 2WD disk will only fit the Escort RS Turbo with Cossie calipers.

i need to space my wheel out a bit tho as its catching ont he leg, the new disk where it faces the hub must be slightly thinner or summut, thats the only problem
