Whats the best way to weld the plates on?
If the brows are welded behind the bonnet will this foul the lights when the bonnet is shut????
If so is it better to weld flush to the outer face of the bonnet and then grind the seam with an angle grinder and then smooth it all off with fibreglass filler???
Help would be appreciated!

Weld one big rectangular panel on the front of the bonnet, and then cut the eyebrows out. Weld with spot joints behind the rectangular sheet, and then smooth out with filler.

That how I'm gonna do it anyway

Weld the plates level with the bonnet (flush) then grind back the welds. Remember to fold the metal on the edge to give a decent factory like finish. Then smooth over with filler. If you weld the plates from behind the bonnet will catch the headlights.

what thickness and type of metal is best to weld on, and is fibreglass easy to use to smooth off?

b careful [ERRR] the legality as i dunno how much light you are allowed to block off!

I used metal off an old door to use on my brows - perfect [ERRR] it's exactly the type & thickness steel you need.

dannyboy - who told you that you could cover upto 50%? just outta interest

Tom matey all you do is grind the welds back so that they are level with the bonnet & the brow plate you've welded on so it's all flush then you use filler to get rid of any inconsistencies

mine has gone from the corner to the bottom of the 10mm lip, all blended so that the lip carries on into the brow :bonkers:
