F.A.O Peeps using a Hybrid T2
Hi
I'm considering buying one as the standard T2 isn't very good.
Anyway what rpm do these kick in and when does the power start fading?
I've spoken to a turbo building company and they say they can make one with a T25 or T28 compressor wheel, 360 thrust bearing etc that will be good upto 20psi. Does this sound right?
Just considering options really cos i don't particularly want to go T3 yet on this engine. Though i wouldn't rule it out.
Thanks
Dave

Cost not the problem though mate.
My spec at the mo is
1600cc on 8,000 miles
Bayjoo 165 chip
Standard injectors & fuel pump
K&N Cone
Standard T2 on 8,000 (running 15psi boost for last 300mile)
Pro Alloy FM I/C
Pro Alloy Big Rad
Mongoose Exhaust.
Tempted to go hybrid T2 and turn boost down to 13psi. Think that would be a nice conversion for now.
Obviously T3 would be the next step but its finding the time to do the conversion.
Want to know really when a T2 hybrid comes on boost compared to a T3, when a T2 hybrid runs out of puff etc.
Thanks for your advice anyway.

A hybrid T2 is very expensive compared to a T3, you would be better changing. You would also need to change your injectors and fuel pump, even if you do stick with a hybrid T2, as the std injectors would struggle to cope with the extra boost.
Sorry i dont know how well they perform as i dont know anyone with one

my t2 is a hybrid havent driven a standard t2 so cant compare but the boost is pretty much there all the time pushing roughly 16psi and runs out of puff around 5500rpm not bad for street driving but just watch the petrol go down

A std T2 runs out of puff at 5.5k as well, so not much difference there
