F1 break up?
what does everyone think?
I'm undecided... it could either be great, or the worst thing to ever happen to the sport.

Re: F1 break up?
I think, if it happens, it's the end of F1.
However, fortunately, it's also the start of a great new race series that is unfettered by the current F1 administration and will hopefully be able to present some fresh new thinking and bring some new ideas to the table.

My name is Alex. I used to have a Capri. I don't anymore. But I'm still called Capri.

It will be good not to have the current administration throttling the advancement of the sport. I understand the reasons they put forward, but F1 has always been the sport of kings - putting a cap on the budgets is ludicrous, imagine a similar restriction imposed on the teams in Premiership football?

Re: F1 break up?
I agree its a shame that FOTA have been driven to this point. I side with them because under the FIA's outlined rules for 010 it would create a two tier championship and in my experiance of watching motor racing where you have a situation where two differnt technical cars racing in the same event is'nt very intersting. I find that arrangement confusing & its not what the public would want IMO, plus you can imagine the bickering and falling out between teams that would create.
The FIA run the event and the teams are invited to put on the show, therefore they should listen to these 8 teams proposals and draw conclusions together rather than slapping a (quite frankly unworkable) 40m cap on the table and saying - there you are you have to obide by that. It really dissapoints me that the FIA cant agree with FOTA - FOTA run their cars, they know how much is "reasonable" to spend and they too, agree with cutting costs but in a realistic way i.e supplying lesser finacially able teams with drivetrains such as this years arrangement with mercdees supplying Brawn with engine & gearboxes. I respect Ross Brawn massivly for staying with FOTA, he potentially has a lot to loose if things fall foul but hes sticking to his roots of pure honest motor racing and thats what formula one should be about. IMO in the recent years F1 has become cought up in a world of "green this" & money saving that and now its come to head with the current situation. They always say the interst's of the fans the ones who get up at 4.00 in the morning to watch the races are at the fore front of their ultimate aims but i think their loosing sight of this now. Theres not half as much running time at the events as their used to be, testing is banned, T cars are banned pre race warm up etc all dissaperred from the sport now which was something I used to enjoy.
It would be a massive shame if F1 as we all know gets broken up, as a pure F1 fan I would not want to see that happen, but on the other hand im not going to watch it if theres no Ferrari, im a Ferrari fan through & through and to me what ever category their in as a manufacture works team thats what I will be watching and its the same with the other 7 teams they all agree F1 just is'nt F1 with out Ferrari. A lot of people are all to quick to critacise Ferrari but just look through the history of the sport and see how much they have done, i dont think any other team will ever attract the attention and passion that they do/have.
