FAO Ade: Hover over post preview

Postby Ollie on Sun Feb 15, 2004 1:02 pm

I keep meaning to ask, how did you get the tooltip preview of the first post in thread when you hover over the link?

Is it an available mod for phpBB or is it something you did yourself?

Would you mind telling me where you got it/how it's done?

Cheers. :)

It's just the title attribute of the anchor element.

You need to tweak the code a little to fetch the post text on the viewforum pages, it doesn't normally get that info.

There's bound to be some more infor at http://www.phpbb.com

OK cheers, I'll have a scour round the phpBB site. Would you mind sending me the code you use to acheive it on here? I don't mind if it's going to be too much hassle.

I want to try setting it up on the latest version of this board and also try to port the feature over to Invision somehow... it's a very useful thing to have. :)

just adapt the query to select the first x characters from the post, put them in a variable and add it, eg: alt="$whatever"

basically
