Few Mk4 Questions
Hi all, very new to this game, I'm running a Mk4 fiesta 1.25 (I'm young leave me alone =D) It's the Zetec model blahdeblah with pretty much all the bells and whistles.
Question 1:
I have already gleaned that 16" Mondeo Alloys which are ET35 and 7J (or J7, whatever) width will fit fine as long as I dont drop more than 35-40mm right? I know thats not really a question but want to make sure, cash is low on the ground =p
Question 2:
Are there any front and rear bumpers (plus skirts, maybe) which don't look ridiculous, perhaps subtle would be a better word for it, that would generally improve the looks of my car without making it look absolutely gash?
And lastly:
Question 3: Is there any way of installing a boot release switch? Gotta love the gadgets...
Thanks for any help with these matters =]
P.S. Am I the only one who dosent think of Mk4's as the 'ugly fiesta'?

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
You could stick some zetec s bumpers on
Don't think there is any modifications that are need to get them on.

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
Well as luck would have it I saw one in the flesh today, looked pretty gash with morrette rip-offs and brows, but it didnt really do it for me, although I have found a few mk4's in the garage that I've been able to draw inspiration from.
Thanks for your help!

Can't say I'm sure on that one but I think you are correct there.
Question 2:
Are there any front and rear bumpers (plus skirts, maybe) which don't look ridiculous, perhaps subtle would be a better word for it, that would generally improve the looks of my car without making it look absolutely gash?
As previously said the MK5 ZS arches and skirts suit the car very well, and the ZS bumpers do look quite nice - i'm considering that but I have a MK5 lol!
Question 3: Is there any way of installing a boot release switch? Gotta love the gadgets...
Piece of p*ss. Get yourself a release solenoid (I used one from a MK3, which when activated pulls the metal bar down releasing the lock. The earth cable bolt onto the body somewhere (I used the ground on the inner boot panel - where the wiper motor grounds), a live cable running all the way from the back of the car to the dash, into an input on the boot release button, then from the other boot release button output to the positive terminal on the battery. I've now wired this up to my toad alarm - just need the high power boot lifters now!
P.S. Am I the only one who dosent think of Mk4's as the 'ugly fiesta'?
It's not the ugliest fiesta but not the best looking. My list of the fiestas (top is best)
MK5
MK3
MK1
MK2
MK4
MK7
MK6
Hope that helps to answer your questions... Any pic's of the motor?

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
^^ Thanks, for whatever reason (maybe because I'm looking now) theres been a spate of mk.5 kits onto mk.4 bodies round my area of late, weird huh?
The cars standard as you can probs tell, just pooling together my savings so I can start soon!
Directly after a clean yesterday (but before the pigeons decided to poop on my car three times...)
Sorry bout size!

Perfect image size lol.
If it were mine I'd start with de-badging the boot - never been a fan of the italicised fiesta logo - and clear/smoked side repeaters. I think the Zetec S kit would look stunning on that colour car!
As seen on Max's car, the OSRAM bulbs add a bit of colour to the headlights, but smoking them would look cool too
Keep us updated

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
Well weell guys.....+gals
The mk4 fiesta is far from ugly but thats my opinion. Haha.
Lex_Mk4..... Read carefully LOL
My 16's are now on my 2iturbo (project)
I would say if your going to get 16's put 205/45's on the back and 195/45's on the front No lowering unless you put zetec-s standard spring on which are 20mm lower than standard anyway and should just work withoud scrubbing.....remember there are 2x different ofsett mondy wheels.
......................................................
The black mk4 found further up the thread is mine LOL and thanks to "ratspeed" does look cool, haha i spent alot of time myself deciding which kit etc to put on it.. Does work well with the front ZS bumper BUT it does need modding to fit.. Trimming on top edge and the top strip.. easy but fidly..
I had a "snoopy" (i think) rear splitter on which did look good and subtle (maybe for sale) and the Zetec-S skirts on which realy did look good. I can post more pics if you want? I was going to put the ZS rear bumper on but its silver and couldent be bothered to spray it so it may be going on my mk3 now.. They fit straight on with very little work.
The car got looks everywere as it was a mk4 5door and looked totaly diferant to some that go over the top with kits etc. LOL
..........................................................
A dodle but saying that mine already has one in..
P.S
My mk4 has the kit removed now as the engine gave up (typical 1.4 zetec-s 16v) some bits on the auction site somewere LOL....Hole car for sale RELUCTANTLY!
Get it done the mk4's dont get much notice compared to the mk3 and mk5..

Answer 1: Mine was lowered 40mm and had escort GTI 15's on with 195/45/15's as the 16" mondeo whells i also have WOULD NOT FIT when lowered.. i had another mk4 when i had this one and had 17"s on that NO LOWERING that worked.Question 1:

This shouldn't be wired into any live. It should be wired into the fifth pin on the ignition relay so that button is rendered inactive once the engine is running.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

Ollybee :You're obviously very trusting of your passengers!
None of my passengers touched the button while it was in the console, which was a suprise really. Not a major problem though as the boot struts were f**cked so it didn't open up fully anyway, hehe. Now though its wired up to my Toad alarm, so will only work on the button on the alarm fob with the ignition off.

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
Thanks for all the replies guys, however the project is on hold for a few months due to some financial bother, have sourced some cool valances and skirts though, debadging and de-rub stripping will be taking place this very weekend!
Oh, and i'm ordering lowering springs soon too, I realise that this maybe frowned upon but its only a slow car so the performance aspect dosent really come into it, its mostly aesthetic...
Could anybody find a tutorial for painting the insides of my headlights? I've knowin it to be done, but a more detailed look at it would be good before I embark on such a mission.
PS ^^ I have looked, I'm not just being lazy =p

Sounds cool, what method did you use to debadge and stripe?
Btw, painting the headlights, one tip - do it on a spare pair btw, lowering won't be frowned upon, trust me , plus I want to know how difficult it is before I get on with lowering mine hehe

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
I was after 35-40mm max drop, otherwise I'd probs take you up on that =]
To debagde and destripe, I used a heat gun (the type you use to get paintwork of old wall etc.) and a cloth wrapped round a paint scraper, heat up the desired area until glue becomes tacky, then slide the paint scraper/ruler/whatever underneath and peel off =D. Rub any excess glue off with you thumb (this can result in BURNS!) and t-cut until any marks are blended in with the paintwork, comes out a treat!
Make sure the area is clean before you start thouhg, otherwise you will be burning dirt and grime into your paintwork =]
I'll probably get a garage to fit my lowering springs, saves me the hassle and at least I've got someone to moan at if they go twang!

I've not come across the boiling water method before... =S
Preject may be on hold until further notice, seeing as I have to re-insure my car this month, and on less than minimum wage thats not too clever!
However, cheaper items that maybe a goer this month: Grill top and bottom, repeaters, smoking front and rear lights, repeaters, lowering springs.
On, the plus side, heres the de-badged etc, pictures:
Back 'Fiesta' Badge gone, rub strips gone, front 'Zetec' badges gone =]
And Clean:
Edit: Im a guy, but you can still hit on me if you like

Re: Few Mk4 Questions
Well this month has turned out to be a skinter, so all I've done is ordered some smoked repeaters =P will edit a pic up once ive stuck 'em in.
Just wanted to add a few questions:
Where on earth can I get some mesh thats black/dark gray and wont cost the earth? (Or will I end up spraying some silver mesh, which I cant imagine would look very good),
And, is it possible to buff down and paint my door handles silver and get a good finish, or is there somewhere I can get some aftermarket ones from?
Lowering s definately on for next month... woo (I hate being poor )
