I was just recently away for a weeks break with the new girlfriend to Istanbul. I did not enjoy the city.

It honestly looks and feels tacky, especially in the shopping area's. Now i am a very well travelled person and have been to and worked in the middle east, so i did know what to expect, but this was bad! If your not dazzled by the glossy plastic clothes, your tripping over the broken and badly maintained pavements.
There was also the fact my girlfriend was feeling VERY uncomfortable by being stared at by literaly everyone. My girlfriend has dark skin, as she is from Ecuador with dark hair and brown eyes, (got to love the Latin women ). It came to a head one lunchtime when the waiter tried to speak to her in Turkish and i had to explain she was not Turkish. He then told us that they thought she was local and were wanting to know why she was with me!!!! It didnt help the matter that we had been holding hands.
I could have honestly stood up and told them to f**k off and mind their own business.

So this obviously did not make well for the rest of our time there

So if you are planning on going on holiday, dont go to Istanbul!!

Ive been to Icmeler twice and Gumbet once and i had a great time.

I think you are lucky your girlfirend isnt blonde hair blue eyes because she would have got more attention trust me, they would have been coming over trying to trade for camels and s**t.

Yeah im sure other parts of Turkey are nice, but im just passing on my recommendations to miss out Istanbul.

I totaly understand what you mean about the guys there, they are not shy and dont care if they are with someone!

We went to Tunisia once and i stopped to look at someone jewellery stand then started to walk off... the man came after me asking me to buy some of his things i said no thanks and carried on walking... then he grabbed my arm so lee held y other hand and tried to walk me off... both of them ended up playing some sort of tug of war with me in the street ha ha wasnt funny at the time tho...

(still went back the next year tho )

i went to turkey, probably about 6-7 years ago now. but went to the otherside of turkey opposite to Istanbul. was a really nice place, and would go again. probably just because you went to the city, were as we were in a fairly quiet town.

We've ust got back from Egypt and the people there were really taken by Max. The hotel staff called him Maxy, did 'high 5' and gave him lolly pops etc. I don't think they see such blonde hair often over there.

I was looking in a jewellers window and the chap came out and asked if he could help. He asked where I was from and when i said england he looked surpised. He said he thought I looked polish because of my pale skin and hair colour When I said we'd been there for a few days he couldn't believe how white I still was!

Ive been to Kusadasi-turkey and had a great time thought overall the poeple were nice. although i know what you mean about the blokes. Every last one was sniffing round my missis.

1 waiter said to my mates missis i want your girlfirend as a 5th wife . My mate stood up calming and said...'bruv, i will put you through that wall if you talk to my girlfriend like that'
haha fooking cracked me up, the waiter didnt no where to look after that..

Some places are well dodgy, as a child I went to Morocco and at the time I was blonde and the locals kept trying to buy me from my parents. They are obsessed with the blonde hair/blue eye thing.
