Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Hello, I've been looking about here a while but havn't really posted so thought it was time. There a lot of useful stuff on here
I've got 2 at the moment. First one one I've had for a while is my 1.3 endura ghia.
Its nippy enough but I decided to get a 2.0 engine for it for track use. I later abandoned that idea and decided to get another for a project/ track car which I picked up about a week ago and is a 1.1 lx.
Going to be doing the conversion in a few months and may need help at some point

Re: My mk3s
Its just next to the tow hook if you look hard The white one is only on 35k on a J so it just has minor rust on the bottom of the rear arches. When I get time I'll be sorting that all out properly.

Re: My mk3s
Had a chance to start the 2.0 conversion. Started off changing the loom as I made it to fit the 1.3, and wired it into the fuse box. The fuel pump relay is in but I still need to run the wire to the pump and wire the ecu feeds to it.
Modified si loom
Almost done
Hopefully I'll finish it that by the end of the week and get the last few bits so I am ready to drop in the engine

I recognise the blue one from Combe? Was discussing what could've been inside it cos it was doing fairly well around the track if it's the same one

A multimeter and diagrams are needed for that. Yours is more difficult though
You may have seen it at combe, unless there was another 5 door caymen which I didn't see

Re: My mk3s
Did some more work on the conversion today. Yesterday I changed the fueling, and stripped down the engine so this morning the engine came out and the new one went in. I've just got it on the 1.1 box at the moment, I have an si one to go on when I have more time but I'll get it running like this first.
Just need to check my wiring and put the inlet etc. on and hopefully it will be running tommorow

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx preject
Cheers, most of the suspension and bits from the ghia are being moved to the white one. I want to keep the white one as standard as possible, but I might have to use the bigger wheels if I want to use the brakes though
The focus inlet I had for it needed some trimming but after everything else was done the engine started first time
Havn't tried it with the alternator or with water so only had it idling for a few seconds. It's got a misfire for some reason and theres a howl from the inlet hose? Don't know if thats normal or not. I'll get it running properly and then investigate. All thats need doing now is a general tidy up.
Should be running properly by tomorrow.

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx preject
Yeah, it's been moving for a while. Found the engine problem in the end. The issue was the inlet loom is off a mondeo mk2 and they had reversed the connector for the tps so it was reading wrong and the engine was hunting.
Still got bits that need finishing namely, the front engine mount (if I can be bothered), speed sensor/cable putting in, finding an exhaust blow and finding a better air filter location. Loving this new engine but it shows up the brakes as quite bad Remembered why I cooked them on the other one several times now
The plan so far is to finish taking the rust off which is where the attention is at the moment. I've also decided how the exterior is going now, I'm going to repaint the bumpers matt black, put in the silver trim and I've got a pair of front spot lights to go on. Then I've got to finish putting the good suspension bits and brakes off the other one on and that will be it for the time being.

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
I'll take the brakes off the cayman one, those are 278 coworths so should be pretty good. Also have some rs2000 rear discs if they finally arrive (bought them in january). Will probably just use the 5 spoke wheels aswell for the moment.
For the interior, I was looking for si or xr2i but I got a cobra clubman seat and harness for the drivers side. Passengers can just hold on I'll get some pics next week some time.

No problem. I've done that sort of wiring twice now so know it quite well.
At least you should be able to enjoy it now after all the work

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Some updated pics:
You can only just see the seat on that one
Also looking at the rust situation. Picked the worst arch and ground it back resulted in it looking like this:
I'm going to leave that bit to the summer some time.
This is a hole that is almost finished, just needs a bit more filler and painting:
This bit has beeen rebuilt and is almost done aswell.

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Thanks
A lot have been done since last time. It now has the xr2i front roll bar, lower chassis brace, upper strut brace and spax suspension from the cayman fiesta. The brakes have been taken off ready to go on aswell and wheels swapped. Lost a bit of the sleeper look but I need the brakes. Also most of the body sections that were in primer are now white.
Also have now fitted the front engine mount and the car feels much better to drive
The only thing left to come off from the other car is the rear beam.

Cheers. I promise I won't change much more to the outside
Ford fair I should be going, combe I would have put my name down but I'm not sure if I can go. I have a uni deadline around there so I will only know at the time. The brakes are going to be changed as soon as possible just in case I can make it, so if I take it on track I don't die
