Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
ah ok, so it was actually the cfi engine but with the mk4/ka inlet?
i figured it was the whole engine from a mk4/ka
27 or so bhp isnt a bad gain for a cam map inlet and four branch, but yet again i dont think i could justify the costs, on a 2.0 zetec them mods would have given over 50bhp in gains roughly, but yet again they would have cost alot more for the zetec
so it aint a bad power to price ratio, but you are starting alot higher up in power with a zetec, so it does win easily
admire you for doing it though

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
MB7201 :On the lower line the spec was endura engine with piper ultimate cam, ported head and standard otherwise. which was 63bhp (and similar wheel torque). It was better with the good flowing intake system but was dissapointed with it with the potential it had, so then I decided to go to the full endura route.
I fitted all thats and there was an immediate improvment, transformed the car completely. I improved the inlet plenum design a bit further as it was badly designed and found a better flowing exhaust, and it made an improvement of about 20bhp just from exhaust and the fuel/intake system.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v461/ ... /graph.jpg
It was mapped after that which brough it up to 89bhp (78 wheel torque) total.
It just shows how much the cfi held it back. I don't know if it was down to the cam or just the cfi but as you say the engines have a few differences. The pistons are flat at the top whereas the oringal engine were dished on one valve and the head is redesigned for the efi with taller ports on the inlet side. I tried improving the flow of the cfi by port matching the inlet which helped, but I still think the manifold is a big restriction on it looking at the port size.
I'm going to get rid of the ghia when it's insurance runs out, may take the engine out if the old one has survived in the garage or sell it as is so all the good bits have been put on to the lx.
So you only got 3bhp over standard with a piper cam? Pretty disappointing! The later engines had higher compression with lightweight pistons, and as you kn ow the larger ports.
You made a good job of that with the later engine!

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
The above was all with the same block and head (endura), the dfference between the 63 and 82 run was just the better exhaust and conversion from cfi to efi (which I think released the potential in the cam and ported head).
I think this may have been a late engine, it's a 2002 and I'm fairly sure the change was before that.

in the ka yes
but the fiesta kept the endura untill the facelift mk6, they were VERY underpowered for the weight

No, theres 2 endura engines. The late one had a silver cam cover rather than the black ones and thats why theres 2 sets of valve clearences depending on the year.
I keep seeing people saying the endura was in the mk6 but I fairly sure that has the 70bhp 1.3 8v duratec from the 2004 ka?

umm tbh me too, ive never seent he mk6 endura, only heard about it
i know the Ka had that engine from 2002 onwards, and ofcourse the ka exclusive 1.6 duratec 8v in the sport/street

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
Sorry, I didn't see this before. The wheels are Addikt Speeds, supposed to be linked to TSW.
The cars taken a bit of abuse recently with 2 track days in a week, I seem to have an admirer aswell who was at both and apparently we are now competing
The rear brace made quite a noticable difference and with some tweeking to the suspension there was a lot less understeer.
A side affect of the front tyres taking a hammering and so I now need new tyres (r888s or similar). I also needed to change the pads as they ran out on the last track day.
Decided to get some front top mount poly bushes (recomendation of toby) along with the arb which were both looking a bit knackered. These and the pads were fitted today ready for the next day or another ring trip.

Any improvement will be good. Wayne, that guy I mentioned is the one that came up to you at CC. He was at lydden hill the following week and we now seem to have a little competition going on which is only going to end in a accident

It's going one of those things where you only notice it when your pushing it on a track. They were easy to fit anyway. From your thread your ones were 1 peice wasn't they?

no they did split, but needed copper grease and two of us to get them in, the second one was easier though, so perhaps it was my approach to it

Agreed, Ive had mine on and off to test the difference and it is noticeable. Especially when you have coilovers and all the other bushes poly'd, it all adds up

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
A few things have happened since the last update, biggest being the ghia has now gone. I put it back to standard, sold the bits and then the car (for a surprisingly high price). I now have a nice new car which should do me for a while.
The lx has now got a set of vibratechnics engine mounts as I ruined the standard ones at lydden hill a while back. Today I got round to checking out the new track wheels and tyres I got a few months ago.
They are a lot bigger than the last set so I raised the suspension by 10mm+ and ghetto rolled the rear wheel arches. The rears stick out the arch a small amount but hopefully they will be ok, and the fronts touch the anti roll bar mount on the shock so are going to need spacers.

The Vibratechnics are great but I hate sitting in traffic, everything just vibrates, and mine are just fast road I tore a 16v one, though, so it had to be done. Mad thing is, the 1.1 mounts never died, but were just too soft!

I'm happy with the wheels as they are at them moment, it surprises a lot of people even with the 5 spoke wheels. We were driving to the 0-60 at ford fair last year and could hear people making comments about taking a 1.1 on there.
Thanks smo. My 1.1 ones just went soft aswell. I dropped the car off the jack after doing some work and the engine sat there bouncing for about a second after so they needed doing. I went for the competition spec ones aswell and the car practically moves around the engine It has made the car feel a lot better with much more responsive.

Re: Fiesta 2.0 lx project
I'm sure I will do a proper update soon, but there are a few more bits coming.
Slightly related is I have bought another bmw do go racing with.
The day after buying with the interior at the dump:
My mate has also got one and between us we bought a nearly new pair of sparco seats, which will go in the fiesta until I need to use it.
I'm going to sort the welding out on the fiesta soon aswell (was going to do it last week but ended up working on the bmw).
It also had it's first proper use since combe, taking it to a local drag racing event at the weekend. It did pretty well I think considering how low grip the surface is, pulling a best time of 15.02@91mph. They say that at pod it would be confortably into the 14s.

Yeah thats basically what I'm doing, the exact excuse I gave my parents for needing this many cars . I want to get into racing but I didn't want to ruin the fiesta, as well as trying something rwd.
