bonjour! Fitted new battery today, and ran the car up, and gave it a wee run up, then gave it a little rev to play with the limiter / lc. Still need to set up the cut out in all the gears, but you get the idea

Glad you like it Smo, will be good to have this and yours at some shows this year, its taken too long to finish this car, really just need to sort the tracking and a couple little niggles, then we can get it on the road and set the lc up lol. Looking forward to a good summer of shows, this winter has been so cold, summer better be hot hot hot!

Depends if you want to make the car stupidly noisey lol. Nothing that you can't do with your feet, but makes cool noises.
Just spent morning with car, new lambe is on, off a st170 so dunno if it'll work, its been running crazy rich so plugs were failed. Need a air filter as its broken where we stretched it to fit maf, also found a water leak on the hose from water pump etc. Also the starter motor need to be replaced with a shorter one as its actually touching the manifold, making warm starts a issue.

Ruishy1 :so makes good bragging rights but not worth the cash
depends really, if you want the simpicity of launching without looking at revs and having to hold them with yours foot, or can't heel and toe well enough to full throttle gear change ( I can't! ) then its worth it, but have not tested it loads on the road so not sure.
On a car like this it defo has its place thou, as a big part of the fun is the sheer noise it will make off the lights for the saxo boys

Re: 2ltr Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - launch control 12/02/10
we set up the full throttle gearchange a bit better yesterday, the noise the car makes is great when holding it around 5k revs, but its really quiet on idle, one thing we do seem to have got right is the noise, wanted it to sound normal on idle and vicious under load.

Re: 2ltr Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - killed it! 18/04/10
Well it died yesterday, its been misfiring and smoking like hell. I took it out yesterday to see if a little blast would cure it lol. It lost revs and oil pressure, then completly died. I reckon its at least the piston rings, would explain all the issues.
Weirdly relieved to know what the issue is, and its no big deal to chuck another engine in, have managed to sort a 1.8 cheap enough, which should be same sort of power with the 2ltr bits fitted. Not ideal but its local and with a mate so easier than trying to sort another 2ltr.
Lets see if we can get it in for fitp!

What a bum! But the 1.8 is a good little engine still (as I'm sure you know from your track car) and will still be lots of fun

yeah sure it will be a little less power, but maybe build a decent 2ltr up over summer, quite fancy going carbs or bodies maybe. Not too worried, if its not done for fitp it will be put to one side while I get my BMW ready as I wanna use that as my daily through summer.

Ive always found the 1.8's when done to rs1800 spec are quicker than 2.0's anyway
Good luck getting it done for fitp

aye if the 2.0 is standard lol
i find ive got alot of low down torque in mine, yet again i aint 130 spec'd it yet so things will certainly change after the cams are in
but id not say a 1.8 is a big compromise, it will still shock a few ppl on the roads as wella s put a smile on your face

should be picking engine up today and fitting next week. I am putting my BMW back together now, which if I am honest interests me quite alot more than this heap of old crap Also have a ST170 to sort out which I may bring to FITP in anycase.
