~nomad~ :Sphinx :With your awesome fabrication skills couldn't you replace the piston ring with a bent paperclip or something?
I could but I have to hold back from time to time, I don't want Excursion crying down the phone cos I have stolen his thunder again.
Yeah, I bet he was well jealous of your skillz when you modded the strut brace.

Re: 2ltr Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - new engine in, and in use.
Brian has used it for a couple days, done 100ish miles, and seems to be running pretty well. Needed a CV boot replacing which was done this morning. Apperantly it has a slight knock when cornering, poss a cv or something catching. Other than that, all good so far!

totally true, this car owes me less than half of less than a grand, and I have had all sorts of fun watching Brian struggle to keep the fucker running all weekend!
f**k driving it myself thou, tbh, alternater fell off on the way home apperantly. As far as I know Ryan is still stuck in Baldock services.

turned out to be the little metal clip on the fuel pump plug being missing, causing plug to move about. lol

Superb little car, the ride is amazing. Brian drove flat out all the way out of the road leading from the Lodge and it didnt bottom out once! Shame about the little niggles like 3 wheel nuts and driveshafts nuts not done up, loose alternator belts and dodgy fuel pump connections, but apart from that it was spot on!

I agree; I love this car's attitude although I would not get in it until an approved inspection body has presented me with some sort of safety cert.

Glad it's running now... Or kinda is
Is that the original 2.0, or did you replace it in the end?

Re: 1.8 zetec Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - new engine in, and in use.
and yes very randomly today we fitted a nes to the car
I used to have a massive retro game collection, and still have a few bits kicking around, decided a NES was a most suitable choice for this car. A funny gimmick at shows I guess
So Brian made a little box of tricks to convert car power to NES power (voodoo)
I repaired a faulty nes and hacked the glovebox up, to get NES in
and now you can play Mario in the Fiesta, which is why this car is better than yours:
Brian also fitted another frst pump to the tank, which superbly didn't work. This made me laugh, almost as much as watching my mate John stab his hand with a kitchen knife that was down the side of his sofa, this was about 6years ago so i digress, it was great though, we sang songs at him, in the style of James Bond theme tunes, the most obvious being "Johnny No-finger". I thought this was going to happen again last night, when he was chipping some ice with a butter knife, but sadly he avoided injury.
Anyway, after he removed the tank and pump again ( ) , he fitted a cossie pump we had kicking about. This seems to have sorted the hesitation, and hopefully the starting issue it had too. No pictures of this, because fuel pumps are not as interesting as NESs.

Re: 1.8 zetec Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - its got a NES in, yeah.
CANT BELIEVE that i fitted a pump before testing it, but its all worked out for the best, old pump clearly couldn't deliver the vast amount of fuel the beastly 1.8 needs. I guess we should take it out on tuesday when im off for a good hammering and put it through its paces
