That's a proper way to make some throttle bodies up!

Much better than the st170 manifold that doesn't line up with a standard head, and ports which are oval and don't match motorbike body oval ports. This setup is full of win!

The jig is made now so any further manifolds will be cheaper. Still looking at about £400 all in but worth it IMO

Running a progressive controller, and megasquirt to only allow the nitrous to operate between 2k and 7800 rpm

2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Trumpets & Cams
Finally got some trumpets on the throttle bodies, and pretty cheap at £21 delivered for a set of 4 from hong kong, they are direct fit
Also received a nice package of my piper BP285 cams!
Also got a nice shiny vernier and a set of valve top shims which will all need machining once i've calculated clearance and tolerances. The cams are reprofiles!
Im going to remove the head and give it a complete overhaul, check valve seal & re-lap as required, remove any of the sharp lines in the casting marks inside the ports, and replace all the valve stem oil seals. With the head off it will make valve clearances easier to check.
Enjoy!

Nice one with the sticker! Lol
Yeah blacktop ones fit too!
The head is going to have a skim, valves refaced, 3 angle valve seats cut, lapped, shimmed, new stem oil seals and camshaft oil seals.
Everything i should of done before fitting it in the first place!

I was reading all about the three angle valve seats earlier, really interesting stuff how standard seats slow the air down due to turbulence, but with the 3 angles you can get 8-15cfm more air into the combustion chamber. More air, more fuel, bigger bang!
I will smooth the sharp casting marks of first before it gets skimmed and dunked in the acid bath etc!

Yeah. Socks ftw! Soak them in an oil based air filter cleaner to stop any moisture ingress given their position.

yea at college we spent quite a bit of time on valve seats and 3 angle seats, was really interesting, the turbulence it causes makes the air entering the cylinder in a bad way and can actually effect the combustion pulses on the power stroke!

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Db250 - Trumpets & Cams
Little update:
Car went on the rollers the other day, and came away pretty disappointed.
Firstly, the car was going really lean after 5800rpm. Fuel pressure was perfect so we flow tested the injectors. These turned out to deliver 85cc/min, quite far from the expected 320cc/min. On further investigation these turned out to be 1.4 zetec injectors, not st170. However, dyno man Ian at power engineering had a spare set of audi 225bhp injectors kicking around (made by Bosch) so these were chucked in and instantly added another 15bhp.
The next problem was the car hitting a 'hard cut' rev limit at 6800rpm. Pretty annoying seeing as the car is built to rev to 8000rpm. This was discovered this evening to be because the crank sensor wiring needed reverting, although this is not listed in the megasquirt manual when you upgrade from ms1 to ms2.
On the day the car came away with 166bhp @ 6800rpm, so plenty of scope to climb higher in the last 1200rpm, it might even make a bit more across the scale if it's picking up a better crank signal, the sensitivity of the signal has been adjusted perfect using the tooth logger option in the diagnostics.
