Re: 2ltr Bonus - picture update tuesday 12/05/2009
heres a update. nuff badness.
new front driveshafts are in, after a bit of hassle swapping a cv on one, easy job (for Brian) but annoying when you buy new shafts expecting them to be for the right car . Also have fitted the front Spax adjustables and unknown springs. Stuck the brake discs on and tried the 15inch steels, to my surprise these seem to be a great fit, offset wise. We do need to get 45 profile tyres on them (50 at the mo). After dropping the car to the ground we both stood on the front and bounced it about to try and get it to settle a bit, its pretty low, i think the springs are 60mm! Thats about it for today, I think its had a few bits done since the last update, intelistart works, but only on one fob, Brian is trying to sort programming my new clifford fob, I hope it works . The wiring in the bay is all wrapped up and the rear panels are bolted back in.
Car is very close now, we would have got more done today but spent most of it in scrappies buying various parts for various cars

I think focus steelies are 15's, or mondeo steelies. I know i saw some 15 inch steelies on a ford the other day at work. Hmm.
Anyway, back on topic. The car looks good! Slowly getting there

Keep the 13s with the wheel trims I say
What sort of price were the driveshafts ?
I reckon a few 0-60 runs at Ford Fair wouldn't go a miss

if its there at ford fair then i should think it will do some runs, Brian was talking about taking it on track too.
Driveshafts are 35ish each, but it seems hit and miss if you get a 3.5 or a 3 outer cv. replacement cvs are about 20

Re: 2ltr Bonus - picture update tuesday 02/07/2009
Got some more done on this over the weekend, its very close now
First up was the exhaust, which Brian pretty much did all by himself, I have been a bit under the weather so wasn't able to roll about under the car He did a cracking job and thus far, no blows. I had to do a little bit of angle grinding type modification to it before it was fitted, but it all went together pretty simply, the pipe we had welded to the worse 4 branch ever was just the right length.
The back box looks pretty huge out the base spec arse of the bonus.
Brian also fitted new tierod ends and new brake pipes, as well as the frst calipers. While I got on with the interior.
First job was modifying the dash for the mk4 dials, something I properly cocked up last time, wrecking the dash. So a new dash, some careful cutting and we have the mk4 dials in place! Brian finished the last bits of wiring needed so I could get on with refitting the dash and all the bits and bobs around it. It took awhile to do as I had to hunt around steptoes yard to find everything
We also got the DVD and screen in too, just the speakers front and rear to sort, nothing fancy, just slightly bigger fronts and some 6x9s for the ratlook stealth shelf. Maybe a sub too lol.
We are very happy with the progress, just the rear suspension, bleeding brakes and sorting the tyres for the wheels left now, plus little bits and bobs. It turns out the fronts catch on the struts, so will need some spacing.
got to be done

However, you've gone to the trouble of fitting mk4 dials and a DVD player...but it's still got sh!tty wind-up windows. Sort your lives out boys.

Eh? It's a low-budget sleeper. Why would you bother to put eleccy windows in it, it just adds unecessary weight.

exactly. Its been built as a cheap, hopefully no hassle, road / 1/4 mile car. Did think about electric windows, but they weigh loads, and they always die and need replacing, something i can't be arsed with lol. The orginal doorcards are really well fitted too, whilst all the frst ones i have are a bit sad, so decided to leave them in.

Re: 2ltr Bonus - picture update 12/07/2009
fitted rear shocks today, here is a pic of the old crap.
and the new crap
we also went around approx 400 scrappys and finally found another 15inch steel in the right offset to replace the buckled one. superbly that was buckled too, what a load of nutsack. So the search continues. We also got a pair of hubcentrics for the front wheels, still to be fitted along with the long studs. The rear wheels go on fine, don't touch the suspension cup as we thought they would, were a little close thou, so fitted 3mm spacers to be on the safe side.
Looks cool on the steels i think.
