Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update21/4 - Engine fitted
Hi Mark!
Was missing the cambearing that holds the vvt. Unfortunately because the head is line-bored the part is unique to the head.
The valve spring compressor I purchased, and got a refund today now ive finished with it

With the steel stripped it should weigh in for £30 ish. It's left me with unfinished throttle bodies and no money to spend on mapping

Ahh I can't remember the specifics of the ST head, it's been a while since I had one apart - is it the bearing cap/oil seal end you're missing?
If yes, see if you can get hold of another one, have a couple of thou milled from the bottom so it's a tight fit, then get the lot line bored. Line boring is around £50 locally to me, and the milling can't be more than £20 - would it make financial sense at those prices?

lol @ the refund of the valve tool after getting use of it.
I once took back a chain oil filter removal tool. It was so s**t and kept slipping. All it did was dent my filter. Guy told me i couldnt have a refund and i said to him come remove the oil filter on my fiesta and i will keep the tool. He then backed down and refunded me

Words of wisdom...
Make sure when you rebuild a head that all the valve springs are the right way up and you dont forget one before you torque the head down

Does this mean you need to re-purchase the valve spring compressor?

Shame you're not down this way because unless you're going genuine Ford I'm sure I could sort you out, but to post it would kinda defeat any saving!
You'd probably be fine re-using, but I'd probably question it and buy some new ones too

Curses! Have you got an airline? Make an adapter from a spark plug, or use one from a compression testing gauge, then pressurise the cylinder. I use this method to replace valve springs and seals without removing the head.

Plan is to chuck a standard focus 2.0 manifold on for now, i've also got to join two power steering pipes, i presume a bit of rubber pipe and two hose clamps wont be sufficient though

Cheers. Mounting it as I have done also gives me the option to bolt straight in a focus rs lump if I decide to go forced induction later.
I'm going to have to fit bonnet raisers. The plastic cover that goes over the vvt solenoid is hitting the bonnet
