I've postponed my appointment with the rollers til Wednesday. Whilst the car could of been finished today, it would of meant rushing, and paying over the odds for some parts. The alt and pas pump are now all fitted, the belt needs to be 110cm long to do the job. Reservoir is bolted in, just need to decide how I'm running the coolant pipes

Exhaust manifold is sorted, it needs to be fitted with socket cap bolts instead of nuts and studs. There simply isn't the clearance to have studs on there

Drive belt is on at last after 6 different belts. The correct belt for this setup is a 6pk1170

Power steering pipes are all connected. The top pipe aint pretty but i will get something better made up at a later date

Bottom rad hose is bodged on right now but im doing a group buy on getting a proper bottom hose made for connecting a blacktop water pump to a fiesta radiator, incorperating the use of the focus water rail instead of the fiesta item.

All thats left is steering column, and inlet manifold. Im picking up a standard escort manifold tomorrow to fit my injectors and TB to and hopefully start the engine tomorrow evening sometime!

Despite a monumental schoolboy error, its running. I've just got to take the column back out and fit the lower bush that i neglected to fit first time round to remove the play thats there at the moment.

Sounds nice tho, the smoke should clear up once its had a good run. Idle afr is 11 ish at the moment but leans up to a more respectable figure higher up the band.

Leaving the oil coolers rubber Gasket in place when he removed it so the oil filter leaked, fudgekin up the head rebuild and looking like a Japanese school girl. The last one was a few years back thou, quite fancied him then tbh.

Well after putting down 100 trouble free miles and no breakdowns i'm feeling happy with it. There is however play on the pinion on the rack so thats going to have to be changed. I've also downloaded a map for a rs1800 for megasquirt, but using Alpha-N instead of Map as the primary input, and has made a massive difference to the running, and afr is staying in limits the whole time, will still need adjusting but will have it on the dyno before hand to see what its making at the moment.

A few pictures to wet your appetite! It shows all the routing of the new pas pipes, and the mods to fit the alt & pump

looks good, tidy and neat

still running the nitrous then

what inlet is it using? looks like a standard focus or escort item
i thought the ST170 had a revised inlet that was key to its power :-?

The inlet is an escort item. The focus inlet has variable runner control but not possible to fit while retaining the master cylinder and servo. The vvt and lairy inlet cam contribute towards the extra power it makes too.

The nitrous is staying of course, I'm aiming to make 200bhp with gas

good figure

why not sue the 1.8/2.0 focus inlet, its a better item than the escorts

i have one sitting in the garage i was going to modify to fit, just needs some blanking for the breathers, and the TB plate altering a tad

I considered the focus but I might only be using it as a stop gap for throttle bodies
