Is this the one that you bought that ST170 inlet flange for?

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update 2/6 New Power !
Went to power engineering tonight for a session on the rollers!
Made 141.9bhp without the gas @ 6krpm
and
173.5.5bhp with gas @ 5.4krpm, we didnt run it any higher as the fueling side of the nitrous system made it run massively rich, might need a smaller jet! Should make a lot more, particularly with a proper setup, it has all been mapped by myself so far!
It also produced 173lb/ft of torque

Mapping is new to me, however there is a program on tunerstudio called ve analyze live, which does most of the fueling side for you, its the spark side that is harder, i need to get some det cans!

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update 2/6 New Power !
I would of liked 150 n/a but such as life!
As for cams im going to get a re-profiled exhaust cam, the inlet is working nicely, and produces a good spike in power when the vvt kicks in at 4.5k rpm.
When neil@fast ford asked me before it went on i said 140/170 so i didnt look a tit by overrating it.
I'l go scan in the graph while i think about it

Nah, not a base map, I started off with a rs1800 map that used the alpha-n algorithm, and I've spend a couple of hours out on the road with it.
Inlet is from an escort gti, but as throttle bodies are on the horizon, seems pointless trying tonpush it any further

Without knowing the flow figures, it would be unfair to state a manifold is useless would you not agree?
The only inlet that fits correctly is an St inlet, due to the port positioning and size being different. A custom inlet is the only solution, for n/a and turbo

Mate of mine has this engine in his mk3 with jenveys and omex 600. To start with it made about 167-173 then it went back to have the cams reprofiled by piper and made about 184hp so there is plenty more to come with bodies and a good map. No reason why you shouldn't be nudging the 200hp mark with the gas

Awesome power so far on a home map job, as you know, loads more power to come yet! Keep it up 180 odd without gas would be a good aim if you can do that, it would be pretty damn quick for a N/A tuned car!

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update 2/6 New Power !
I think the ST170 engine Steve and I did made 180bhp in the end. De-catted exhaust system, Jenveys and an Emerald K3 ECU, mapped by myself. We were a bit disappointed, but TOTD confirmed that their best ST170 engines on management and ITBs were making the same power. Cams were going to be the next step, so 200bhp should be doable with cams and your nitrous setup

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update 2/6 New Power !
As standard the engine runs proper vvt control, and inlet runner control, all contributing to the power it make as standard, all i've effectively got is a head with bigger inlet ports and a more exciting inlet cam.
Im working on getting the inlet made now, and saving for a pair of cams!

Re: 2.0 ST170 Bonus Dirtbox Sleeper - Update 2/6 New Power !
Been ages since an update
Since last update its had a trip to santa pod, running 14.58 1/4 mile now, mega happy with that! I did however damage the sump on way home so I'm converting to a silver top sump, it won't sit as low as i've not angled the engine like excursion has. Silvertop sump is not a direct fit, 4x 19mm spacers are required, and 4 silver top main cap bolts with threaded ends are also required to the baffle plate can be fitted, this is part of the sump on a black top. Otherwise it all bolts straight on.
Whilst the sump is off I'm fitting a set of arp con rod bolts so i may happily rev the engine to 8000 rpm
The exhaust manifold is facing a bit of redesign, when originally fitted the 2-1 section was a bit of a bodge, I'm going to rework it making the secondary pipes a bit longer, and then a smoother transition into the single pipe, rather than the bottleneck it currently goes through.
The inlet manifold is currently being made at power engineering to accept the 4age bodies. It will be using st170 injectors as they flow plenty for the amount of power i want to be making off gas. The nitrous system is going to be reworked to a professional race spec, it will have separate additional fuel injectors, and discharge tubes pointing down the trumpets of the ITB's for the gas. This will give the biggest hit possible for the jets I'm running, and by far the best atomisation of gas/fuel.
Lastly i've invested in a second hand set of r888's, they are medium compound so shouldn't burn up too quick, need to stick these on a second set of rims for track tires!
Pictures of all this to follow in the next couple of days as it comes to life!
