Fiesta Chassis Tuning
Hi,
What modifications can i do to my fiesta to make it better before an engine transplant?
So far Im thinking:
2.0l rear brakes with 1980-83 escort hoses
Bigger front discs and calipers (which ones other than cossie setup?)
Racing Puma Handbrake cable (what else fits without mods?)
Zetec S rear beam (are Ka beams the same?)
Front upper and lower strut braces
rear strut brace
RS Turbo anti-roll bar
Maybe a half rear cage
Are RS Turbo steering racks any different to the base model Non-PAS racks?
Thanks

Yeah the RS turbo has its own rack and is different from all others. Its why i had to pay a fortune to get mine re-conditioned

no they are not the same as 4*4 cosworths, they do look very similar but are completely diff!
ford or motorfactors are the best place to get new disks from.
Can i ask what you want ultimately from the car as no offence but it looks like you have gone through the site and seen people talking about doing things and decided that you will want that as it sounds good!
i take it you mean focus rear setup? you can make your oen braided hoses just as easy and as cheap as getting the rubber escort hoses!
there is no such thing as a lower strut brace available for a mk3 fiesta, there is a lower brace that is fitted to the xr2i's and turbos that couldbe classed as one as thats pretty much what the std ford item does tho, but most important thing is you have not even mentioned what suspension you are going to be running!
also i would consider replacing every bush with atleast new ford items if not polybushes to tighten up the car alot and make it fresh feeling!

I want the car as a cheap track/fast road blast.
There are some other calipers the same as the cossie, i read it on here a while ago but cant seem to find it.
yeah i meant focus 2.0l brakes, sorry. I will look into the custom braided hoses. Does anyone know what other handbrake cables fit?
how big are V6 mondeo disks?
That, XR2/turbo setup is also what i meant by lower strut brace.
Suspension wise, i was thinking Koni, and want opinions on how much to lower the car? is 50mm too much?
sorry for being vauge before

Lowering it 50mm is too far.
It will throw the camber out way too far and if you use it on track thats not what you want.
Getting the correct spring rates will make more difference than lowering it to the ground.
Im pretty sure the MK5 Escort RS2000 handbrake cable fits ok.
Im actualy using the standard discs and calipers on my fiesta on track but stick a set of mintex 1166 race pads in for track use and as a lot of the faster cars with bigger brakes suffer brake fade i sail past

If an RS turbo is lowered 25mm then a base model will need lowering 50mm to be at the same height, right? rs turbos are 25mm lower as stadard.
what are the correct spring rates? about 190lb/in front, 260lb/in rear??
it would work out around the same price for me to get the cossie brake setup anyway as my uncle owns a scrap yard. I may even get willwood 4 pots if re-conditioning costs too much.

To be honest It sound like you are going a bit OTT for a cheap track/fat road car. I know a guy who still uses the stock drum son the back of his 400bhp FRST and they stop him quite nicely. Save a wedge by not bothering with the beam and back brakes and spend it on getting the tried and tested Cossie 4x4 front setup. You can box your rear beam if you know a man with a proper welder (not the pissant 100A jobbies). Braided lines are worth ainvesting in as is decent brake fluid.
You don't say what your car is though which makes it a bit trickier to offer advise

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
