few updates, i have mounted evo 8 hks camber and castor adjustable top mounts to the mk3 fiesta, also changed the bulkhead for a mk3.5 powersteering part as you can see. the front turrets have been custom made to accomodate the top mounts theres not finished yet but ul get the idea :D also just dropped the engine in to get its position. let me no what you think!

f**k that looks fantastic, loving the 170turbo :D

on another note, are you sure the welding in that panel was entirely needed? i converted a mk4 to powersteering easy, just swapped over the U.V joint at the bottom of the column, fitted the pas rack and the pipe work, and obiously a pump lol

cant imagine it being much different on a mk3

Re: Fiesta zetec turbo diary cosworth rs500 rad and intercooler!

Postby luke_mk3_st on Sat Mar 05, 2011 6:34 pm

done some stuff today been slacking a bit it im honest  but anyway we have cut the front crossmember out as it was taking up to much space! i personaly dont no if anybody has a radiator this big fitted to mk3 fiesta! unfortunatly i didnt take anymore pics as my phone died but dw i will take some tommorw to show the new crossmember and mounts etc. and the intercooler is only that may it was just a mock for inital spacing! its now the otherway!
the biggest thing tho is that we have fitted this WITHOUT cutting the front bumper!!! and we have kept the original bonnet latch!!! take a look! do appologise for the pictures will get better ones tomo.
how big is that rad :D

Postby Excursion on Sat Mar 05, 2011 7:17 pm

That is exactly what I'm doing - the cross member takes up way too much useful space like you say (especially now I'm going dry sump but keeping A/C)! I've got a 2009 Audi S3 rad pack that is pretty much the same size as you have used there.

What I'm doing is making a complete removable subframe for the front end, that can be unbolted - it will give the same sort of rigidity as the Mk5 and make working on the engine etc. a bit easier!

Yea mate it's a much better way of doing it, and same it gives me space for the dry sump pump. I was going to make it bolt in but it doesn't have to be as all the panels unbolt anyway so gives me bundles of space for fitment! Also managed to keep the gearbox cradle and the mtx will mount off it.

Looking good :Q I could do with a rad like that for mine when summer comes along! :oooh: It's great that you're keeping the original bonnet latch too, much more subtle than bonnet pins. Mounting the MTX onto the cradle's a nice touch as well - certainly neater and saves more space in the engine bay :)

ye when i was looking at rads i got the measurments of the rs500 one and i was like thats way to big!! so i bought it anyway lol and it fits lovely!! has to cut alot of the front panel but nothing structual for it. and anything that has been cut is being strenthend anyway. gotta have a proper rad last thing you want is cooling problems! especialy with the heat thats going to be in the bay. my exact opinion on the bonnet pins to mate... each to there own and on a full blown track car ye but not for what im doing. also going to have the bonnet on struts. and yes the cradle is alot better imo 1 for the space above needed for the turbo / exhaust etc and 2 its a much better mount as the engine is sitting in it rather than hanging from a mount.
