sad thing is it could have very well been the "motorsport" oil that caused the rod to take up its path of enlightenment... :rolleyes:
like nick suggested

as the oil could have been too thick to lubricate the shim surface and big end of the con rod, causing heat friction and then the bolt coming loose or sheering off



no matter who tells you that oil is best, how are they more correct than fords very own recommendation?!

tbf all started to go pete tong when i swapped it to 5w30 fuly synth x tech as ford advise and the reason it went bang is the pick up pipe
