nice welding :)

does the car fit in that garage? looks to small with the bench

its in need of some skirts of some sort, the bumpers sit lower and its uneven ya know?

escort mk5 RS2000 skirts would suit it well :)

well welding has never been my strong point I didn't prep for the welds and did it in like 1 hour so im not fused i built the bench purley to do the engine then ill be storing it down the side of the filing cabinate
Still got a fuel tank going cheap looks brand new even got a fresh coat of tetra shults on the underside and the 1.6 head and bottom end if anyones interested
going to go and take the crank off clean the bottom end and then rebuild with the new ARPs and some lube :D
Then thinking sump and tape off the water galleries so I can store it off the bench ready for the Head

Just some advice but make sure those valve guides are reamed before use, and some of the seats look a bit marginal too.

hard to tell or not, but how smooth are the ports now? id go down as far as 300 grit to get them baby bum smooth :D

and just a observation, take it easy around the valve seats, your starting to score them, you could ruin your seal if your not careful

at this time id stop using power tools and do it by hand (if i were ever to use a power tool to do this)

keep it up though :)

ive seen sport cats go for £300 from prospeed in cardiff so quite a good price

but they weld them in for that price

surely regrinding the seats will need oversized valves?

all this is best left to the professionals imo

but i am a mechanic and have rebuilt engines before
you can regrimnd the valve seats at home with valve grinding paste the valves sat true of the seat by 4mm anywho so regrind won't damage anything
I won't be skimming the head myself as i dont have the tool used to do a skim also for £40 I woudl rather they did it
I would never do proper machining work but porting a cylinder head is failry straight forward
also having the ports too smooth can actually reduce performance as shown In David Vizards engine book
Im not going for Major BHP but know how much the area around the valve guide reduces air flow
I won't the car to be comfortable to drive around town hence standard cams and more than likely exhuast manifold as once the EGr is blanked flows more than enough without having to faf with either a mild steel ashley 4-2-1 or a stainless escort item that requires major effort

that lasted long, why did you buy it if your skint now? its only been about 2-4weeks since you bought it, did you not anticipate you'd be a bit skint if you got it?

cause if i get enough pay this month im keeping the engine lol
plus if i sell the block ill still have the head
i did the exhuast rough because the gasses passing through are being forced anyway and will be more back pressure from the standard manifold and cat
inlets were always going to be a better finish
