Fiesta GTR - pics from my local Ford dealer? Opinions?

Postby heeman10 on Fri Dec 10, 2004 9:29 pm

Hi everyone. Nipped into Ford tonight and saw this silver one outside (was nearly pitch black, this phone cam kicks ass!! :D) and the red one inside. I didn't even know Ford were doing this "GTR" thing, it's available on the Fiesta, Focus and Ka, maybe others. Just a bit of extra flare, I thought they looked ok really :)

Can't believe the top two outside look like it's in the morning or something, was after 4pm!

What do you lot reckon?

James.

They're just a bunch of Mk6 Fiestas, varying engines and stuff. Just had to have a brief scurry past/round them and take pics really, didn't have much time.

The cars look nice though - have to ask my mate Neil for more info. on them (he works at a local Ford dealership).

I'd have to have the stripes removed though! :aaah:

Cheers,

I think the wheels look fit! Maybe without the drill holes though.
The exhaust needs to be stuck on better (Looks a bit p!ssed and slanted )
And they could have at least colour coded the mirrors.....aside from that 9/10 for effort on Fords part for catering to a specific audience again!

unfortunatley the mk6 still looks s**t and is ridiculously underpowered. those wheels are awful. i seem to recall the ford fiesta NOT being a dodge viper too.

yea but it looks crap really ud be much better off getting a standard one and doing it yourself ! the momo GTR wheels from which the name comes are actually really nice wheels on the right car in a bigger size ! on that fiesta they look too small the car looks to high wots the fuckin deal with fiestas and stripes they look s**t, and also they put a dubious kit on but still orange side repeaters and black mirrors !

chive !

At 1st glance, I thought it looked really good. Then after reading the posts and looking again, Its an obvious stick on job and the more I look at it the worse it gets. Bet its made by EGR or something, they do the ones for the Focus.

Think the wheels would look fairly good if it was dropped 40mm.

The kit is made by SW Autodesign for North West Ford dealers. It's not cheap crap, it's proper PU-RIM (plastic), the same stuff as the OEM Ford XR/RS arches etc.

As it's modded by the dealer it's all still covered by the warranty.

Spoon : i seem to recall the ford fiesta NOT being a dodge viper too.

Ford's had stripes like that about 30 years before the Viper came along.

when i said they looked cheap i was refering to the design not the quality of the materials

just as well im not the market that their aiming for really, im sure they`ve done their research and that they will sell well

Same here. It's ok, we're just used to seeing top quality modded fiesta's i guess, does look a bit tacky, haven't seen one on the road yet tho. When were they brought out?

I reckon its got be cheaper to buy a MK6 already modded like that than get it done yourself. I'm not a fan of the wheels and I think theres plenty of better options that you could fit from Fords own range. 17" ST170 :D

The mirrors are crying out to be colour coded and I hate to say it but the Red one actually looks nicer. The stripes dont really suit silver cars full stop

I think it looks smart if understated.

Personally I have virtually never seen a aftermarket kit that I like - most should come with a fake burberry cap and some blue neon washerjets.

I think the MK6 is the best looking Fezza since the MK3 - its amazing that when it was released I thought it looked really schect.

Regarding the quality of it: I was miffed when I looked inside the rear wheel arch to see that where the hole had been drilled to accept one of the SCREWS to hold the kit to the car, there was still a length of plastic swarf screwing out, and it looked really untidy. The same style of kit is also available on hte Focus, took a pic of that too.

Good Kit, Poorly fitted by the sound of it. A bit like the bodge job Vauxhall did cutting the rear valance on the on some of the MK4 Astra Sri/GSi Turbos to allow fitment of a larger exhaust

The exhausts on those GSi's are hilarious. Even the Mk3 GSi had a twin tailpipe.

My Dads SRi 2.2 with prodrive kit and irmscher exhaust looks better than the GSi's IMO.
