Re: Fiesta mk2 - 2.0 Zetec Its In !
when clark said his pump was different i thought wtf, but when i see the different pump on the 1.6 zetec i got for bits i did think maybe the 1.6/1.8 were the same, but i dont really see the point of a 2 litre being different, but then again thinking about it, for stuff mounted on the back of a 2 litre the filter would have to stick out a bit more to get to it fully so in hine site, i can see a point to it

rs220bhp :Good work clark. looks like it left the factory that way. When do you plan on getting it running
I plan to have it ready for Fitp or i wont be going
Still got lots to do before it fires up.
Drop tank and replace with 1.4 cvh cfi version and bolt on sierra cosworth external fuel pump
upgrade the 6mm to a 8mm copper fuel pipe from tank to engine bay for the return fuel
install engine wiring loom and locate ecu behind dash
cut/modify the st170 exhaust manifold to fit the mk2 and get a join made to match the mk2 scorpian exhaust
plumb in ancilliarys
fit 5 speed gear selector
top up gearbox with fresh oil
service engine with fresh oil and filter

Re: Fiesta mk2 - 2.0 Zetec Its In !
More progress on the mk2
Got the passenger side tie bar re-attached. Clears the gearbox
Drivers side on the other hand . . .
The front bracket rests on the alternator. So i managed to get hold of an Xr2 cvh RH tie bar and bracket which does get me round this issue. I should get this next week in post.
Both driveshafts are now back in, New hub nuts fitted, Gearbox refilled with 3.2 litres of new ford transmission oil.
Radiator hoses and heater hoses are all mock fitted. Clutch cable re-fitted, New accelerator cable fitted.
Dashboard out , heater assembly out and getting ready for installing zetec ecu and loom.
Original bulkhead wiring grommet. with existing loom
Ecu and injector loom fed through the wiring grommet. Need to work out where to put the ecu and make up a bracket to fit it under dash.
Mk3 fiesta complete loom - This gave me a headache just looking at it !
We now need to modify the the grey plug from this mk3 loom onto the mk2 engine loom. Also a EFI sub loom will be installed for the external fuel pump with relays and a cut off switch as an addition to the standard form looms.
Next week we will be draining the 1.1 fuel tank and removing it ready for the new CFI tank

Re: Fiesta mk2 - 2.0 Zetec Its In !
Good work there.
RE the loom/. Are you using a mk3.5 16v si loom? Thats what i done. All i had was the main loom ie the one that goes from the ecu and feeds all the engine sensors, you dont need to change fuse boxes etc.
RE the new relay and fuel cut off, I used a standard ford 4 pin relay and located it neatly in the existing fuse box and wired it up accordingly. I used the fuel cut off from the same s**t fiesta si and wired it in to my fuel pump etc. Its so easy to get them going using the si stuff. I have seen some older conversion threads where people use a mondy loom, but tbh it looks like a far greater ball ache than using the si loom.
If you get stuck with the wiring its all covered in my thread. Out of intrest what ECU are you planning on using? Ideally you'll want either DEEP,DEWY or DESK.

I believe it is a mk3.5 si loom as its got pats module, mk3.5 electric window switches, transiver , and later style loom for clock.
The main thing i need to know is that grey plug in engine bay needs to connect to the grey plug shown above in pic. but thats part of the mk3 engine bay loom where it has all wiring for lights etc. Does this need plumbing into the existing mk2 loom ?
I already have a dewy ecu and 2.0 maf sensor which came with the engine & loom package.

I already have a dewy ecu and 2.0 maf sensor which came with the engine & loom package.
What you need to do is: That 12 pin Grey plug as you have described, if you imagine this was all still attached to the existing car and you were removing it, you need to cut that plug off from the CAR LOOM side, leave your self sufficant length of wires on the end of it, so then your left neatly with the engine bay loom connected as it should be to the car loom plug. What you do then is adopt this:
Each of the pins on that plug are numbered & need to be wired up as follows:
1=brown=earth to body
2=green=rev counter
3=brown=fuel pump relay earth
4=black=4amp ignition live
5=black/red..to..black/green=iscv
6=red=ecu power from battery or fuse box
7=brown/green=not used
8=black/green=iscv ignition live
9=brown/white=temp guage
10=blank
11=blank
12=brown=not used
The wires from pin 5 and 8 need to be joined together and linked to an ignition live, black/green is the power feed for the iscv and black/red is for the hego sensor they read off each other so need to be joined together. I used the old anti run on solinoid wire which connected to the old carb, its got a rubber boot on the end of it, this is an ignition live so works fine.
I have adopted this method three times on mk2 fiesta's now and have never had any problems in getting them running. One thing I would mention on the three si looms i have wired in (cant remember which pin either 5 or 8 ) but basically as above it says pin5 Black / Red wire & pin 8 Black/Green wire - Well one of these is just a Brown wire but join them together as described above anyway. Thats the only discrepency I ever came accross.
Gareth.

Re: Fiesta mk2 - 2.0 Zetec Its In !
Today i took the day off and got cracking on the mk2 again.
Ryan popped round 1st thing this morning and wired in the Engine loom into the mk2 loom. He also brought along a fancy little auxillary fuse box with 2 ford relays to run the fuel pump.
While he was doing his magic with the haynes manuals i began to remove the old carb fuel tank
Sender removed - petrol emptied out.
New CFI fuel tank - trial fitting the fuel pump with the burton power bracket
Then i dropped them both off to the powder coaters
fuel sender refitted and redundant pipes blocked off
fuel pump fitted
all ready to go.
Very tight fit with the pump and handbrake cable
I now need to remove the 6mm feed pipe and make up a 8mm feed pipe with copper fuel pipe and a pipe bender.
So happy with the outcome - powdercoating is the bees knees. Will underseal it once everything is completed.

Looking good.
Your cfi tanks looks way way better than mine. Mine only has a small swirl pot inside and as such its s**t! when its low on fuel it surges. Yours looks far more like it. You dont need to change your existing fuel lines either. Mine & my brothers both run fine using the existing ones.
