Had a recent bank holiday over to the isle of wight with the mk2 :)

Some snap shots to report back with

the 2.0 engine did well on the long runs. But its using a bit of oil when you floor it. There is evidence of oil specs on the tailgate from the exhaust. I had to top up the engine with 2 litres of oil in total. When engine is cold i have a distingtive knocking noise when you apply throttle. Been told by a few people its piston slap.

at a guess i think cylinder 4 is worn and letting oil past the rings

Not good news at all

i knew i forgot something !

before isle of wight i took off the mondeo 15 inch steels with 195/50/15 pirelli tyres and did a deal with nomad for some fiesta mk6 steels & tyres.
These new steels are a better offset for the mk2 and dont cause the tyres to catch the arches. The tyres on these are 195/45/15 Kuhmo sports :)

Shame about engine, but as I said, just stick another 2ltr in there.

Need to find some wheels for your old tyres to go on now!

they are the most plain looking for wheel trims i could lay my hands on . I dont like wheel trims that pretent to be alloy wheels and show the steel wheel through the trim. The whole point of this car is to give off the impression to normal people that its a standard looking fiesta. in effect a sleeper.

the steels are a nice change from fitting the usual escort 15 inch alloys

i would rather have no trims at all then fit halfords crap.

if i could get hold of a plain wheel trim that completly covers the steel wheel and is a 15 inch ford trim i would have em.

Gutted mate. Probably worth buying another engine and refurbishing that whilst you're still driving it. I think your current engine will still sell for what you paid for it.

PS I am currently selling brand new gen ford pistons, rings, rods and valves for 2.0 zetec http://shop.ebay.co.uk/mw_stewart/m.htm ... 4340.l2562

i think you should just buy another engine and slap it in .
because if you start rebuilding that one you might as well chuck some c20let pistons in there, t3 manifold and ofab etc.

It's worth £80 and half a tank of petrol to try your luck with that one in Essex :)

That said, I bought a low mileage one from Essex and ended up fully rebuilding it anyway

Car looks great though, Clark!

Bad news about the engine mate, i think the hub caps look :Q

If you decide to get an engine i can get you one thats had a top end overhaul with new valves, head skimmed and pressure tested, new headgasket and timing belt etc. already has the 1.8 sump and pick up. Guy wants £200 which may seem like alot but if you refresh one with new gaskets and timing bellt etc wont be far off price of buying one then the parts. If you interested drop me a PM or a text and i can find out milage etc

Oh its had new waterpump aswell

never a true word said  although turboing a mk2 is a bit of a pain in the arse due to space, and i know clark aint gunna start choping reinforcers to clear exhausts and show horning rads and coolers in there so theres no fear of that happening

clark as i said mate, if you want another engine, get one you can hear running, pref in a car still thats driveable so you can take it for a spin if need be.

dont forget about them two 2litre mondeos i pointed out local to me, completes cars for £200

buying a complete car for £200 sounds the better option .you can sell parts off it to regain some cash.
if its a mondeo 4x4 ill go halfs with ya and take the running gear.
